Job summary

Building and Construction Authority Singapore is seeking solutions-driven, energetic individuals to shape Singapore's built environment. Successful candidates typically hold a degree in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Architecture, with 3–4 years of building design or supervision experience.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Architecture or Building-related discipline.
• 3–4 years of experience in building design or construction supervision preferred.
• Expertise in a technical area under the Approved Document will be an advantage.
• Good command of spoken and written English.
• Strong analytical, writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and approving building plan submissions, evaluating designs for safety, environmental sustainability, and accessibility.
• Developing strategies, policies, and processes to keep Singapore's building control framework robust and future-ready.
• Studying data and industry trends to support evidence-based policy decisions.
• Managing complex feedback cases and investigations into potential violations of the Building Control Act and Regulations, with enforcement actions as needed.
• Working with partner agencies to support a pro-business environment while ensuring construction productivity.

What you will be working on

You will play a key role in administering and shaping building regulations and policies. Your responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing and approving building plan submissions, using your technical knowledge to evaluate designs for safety, environmental sustainability, and barrier-free accessibility.
• Developing strategies, policies, and processes to ensure Singapore's building control framework remains robust and future-ready.
• Studying data and industry trends to support evidence-based policy decisions that shape how Singapore builds.
• Managing complex feedback cases and conducting investigations into potential violations of the Building Control Act and Regulations, taking appropriate enforcement action where needed.
• Working closely with partner agencies to create a pro-business environment that supports a thriving construction industry while ensuring construction productivity.

What we are looking for

• A degree in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering/Architecture or Building-related discipline.
• At least 3-4 years of experience in building design or construction supervision is preferred.
• Expertise in a technical area under the Approved Document will be an advantage.
