Qualifications

  • Diploma in Agriculture, Urban Agricultural Technology, Horticulture, Plant Science, Agrotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • Prior internship experience in a research facility, nursery, greenhouse, laboratory, or farm is a strong advantage.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills, with a systematic approach to work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work with diverse stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
  • Adaptable, resourceful and able to respond effectively to evolving operational and project needs.
  • Strong interest in agriculture, research and innovation, with willingness to undertake fieldwork and hands-on activities.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, setup and execution of agricultural research projects and operational activities
  • Carry out day-to-day tasks and procedures in accordance with established work processes and guidelines.
  • Assist with plant cultivation, crop maintenance, and other activities related to agricultural research and crop improvement.
  • Monitor and maintain growing environments, equipment and facilities to ensure smooth operations.
  • Collect, record and maintain data and information accurately to support project monitoring and reporting.
  • Coordinate the handling, movement and storage of research materials, equipment and supplies.
  • Support inventory management and procurement of operational and research-related consumables.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised work environment in compliance with workplace safety requirements.
  • Provide operational and administrative support for new projects, trials, events and other departmental initiatives as required.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors or management.

[What the role is]

The mission of SFA is to ensure and secure a supply of safe food for Singapore. The Agriculture Technology Department (AGT) plans and conducts translational research in agri-inputs, crop management, crop protection, crop improvement, and precision agriculture. Leads the development of sustainable farming practices, provides technical assistance to strengthen farm capabilities, while driving the Agritech Translation Programme.
