Job summary

SINGAPORE FOOD AGENCY (SFA) in Singapore is seeking a motivated intern to support agricultural research and crop improvement initiatives. You will execute plant breeding protocols, maintain cultivation systems, manage trial data, and ensure smooth operation of research facilities and logistics.

The role offers hands-on field, greenhouse and lab exposure, with opportunities to work with multidisciplinary teams, learn modern agritech practices, and contribute to soil and crop management projects.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Agriculture, Urban Agricultural Technology, Horticulture, Plant Science, Agrotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related field.
• Prior internship experience in a research facility, nursery, greenhouse, laboratory, or farm is a strong advantage.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills, with a systematic approach to work.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work with diverse stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
• Able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
• Adaptable, resourceful and able to respond effectively to evolving operational and project needs.
• Strong interest in agriculture, research and innovation, with willingness to undertake fieldwork and hands-on activities.

Responsibilities

• Support the planning, setup and execution of agricultural research projects and operational activities
• Carry out day-to-day tasks and procedures in accordance with established work processes and guidelines.
• Assist with plant cultivation, crop maintenance, and other activities related to agricultural research and crop improvement.
• Monitor and maintain growing environments, equipment and facilities to ensure smooth operations.
• Collect, record and maintain data and information accurately to support project monitoring and reporting.
• Coordinate the handling, movement and storage of research materials, equipment and supplies.
• Support inventory management and procurement of operational and research-related consumables.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised work environment in compliance with workplace safety requirements.
• Provide operational and administrative support for new projects, trials, events and other departmental initiatives as required.
• Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors or management.
