About the role

English by Jen is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic English teacher to join our team on a part-time basis. This role is based in the Katong Central Region and offers a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young learners' English language development. As an English teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective English lessons to primary-level students, fostering their confidence, communication skills and love of the English language. This position plays a vital role in our mission to provide high-quality English education and support each student's academic progression.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging English lessons that align with curriculum standards and meet the diverse learning needs of primary students

• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation and builds student confidence

• Assess student progress through formal and informal assessments, and provide constructive feedback to support their development

• Develop and utilise a variety of teaching materials and resources to enhance student engagement and comprehension

• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, achievements and areas for improvement

• Support students' language development across reading, writing, speaking and listening skills

• Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities within the classroom

• Maintain detailed records of student attendance, progress and performance

• Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the overall success of the English programme

What we're looking for

• A recognised teaching qualification or certification in English education or primary education, preferably Dip in Ed or PGDE

• Proven experience teaching English to primary-level students

• Strong command of the English language with excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Passion for fostering a love of English language in young learners

• Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create an engaging learning environment

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with students, parents and colleagues

• Ability to plan lessons that are age-appropriate, interactive and aligned with curriculum objectives

• Flexibility and adaptability in responding to individual student needs

• Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with teaching methodologies
