Job summary

Dyson in Singapore is seeking an Engineering Technician to join the Test Development Team. You will help develop test methodologies with R&D Engineers, stress-test new product designs, and drive improvements to existing test methods using automation technologies.

The role requires self-direction, cross-team collaboration, and hands-on work across development and product offerings to ensure robust, high-quality products for consumers.

Qualifications

• Diploma in any relevant engineering discipline.
• Possess technical problem-solving skills and reasoning abilities.
• Ability to convey information and ideas at a technical level.
• Experience with CAD applications will be helpful in test systems design/development.

Responsibilities

• Support investigation of design and technical specifications for test verification.
• Perform testing per prescribed matrices and standards (IEC/ASTM/QB/T).
• Be knowledgeable of test environments and automated testing tools.
• Assist in designing/prototyping test jigs, fixtures and apparatus.
• Conduct preliminary troubleshooting of test systems and fixtures; diagnose faults.
• Analyze test results and adjust test systems as required.
• Prepare test and failure reports and share with stakeholders.

About the Role

Search is on for creative tech savvy Engineering Technician to join Dyson’s Test Development Team in Singapore, to keep pace with Dyson’s ambition for incremental growth in product categories and product range in the coming years.

The right candidate can be excited with prospects of being able to develop, in conjunction with R&D Engineers, test methodologies that are deployed to stress test new product designs, product offerings, fulfilling a desire to ensure delivery of a robust and quality product to consumers and, at the same time drive continuous improvements to existing methodologies, keeping pace with automation technologies.

To do so, the candidate must be self-directed, comfortable with working across development teams & product offerings and be unafraid of getting their hands dirty.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Test & Tech Development

• Support the investigation of design & technical specifications, development of test procedure(s) and acceptance criteria required for product verification.
• Perform testing in conformance to prescribed test matrix/procedures, under developmental test methodologies and/or International Standards (IEC, ASTM, QB/T, etc).
• Be knowledgeable of various test environments and internal / external automated testing tools to ensure that requirements are implemented correctly.
• Support the Design, development and prototyping of test jigs &fixtures / test apparatus, overseeing the fabrication process where necessary.
• Conduct preliminary troubleshooting of jigs & fixtures / test systems, diagnose faults and perform remedial actions.
• Analyze test results and adjust test systems as required.
• Preparation of test and failure reports and responsible for dissemination to stakeholders.

Product Development

• Support investigation of test requirements for research & product development projects, contributing to robust and efficient product verification strategies.
• Partner with product performance/design teams for design improvement works and validation of new product prototypes.

Lab Management

• Support laboratory operations & equipment maintenance/calibration.
• Maintain 5s housekeeping and participate in Health & Safety initiatives.
• Other ad-hoc duties may be assigned.

About You

Technical:

• Diploma in any relevant engineering discipline.
• Possess technical problem-solving skills and reasoning ability through mathematical and statistical principles.
• Ability to convey information and ideas at a technical level.
• Experience with CAD applications will also be helpful in the realization of test systems design / development.

Person:

• Self-motivated and a great team player.
• Able to adapt and react to changing requirements and priorities.
• Able to develop clear, efficient and logical approaches to work, with an innate ability to think out of the box a plus.
• Able to collaborate effectively across Teams (ie. System Engineers, Design Engineers and Compliance & Regulatory Specialist, etc).
