Job summary

HP is seeking an Engineering Project/Program Manager to lead commodity development and qualification for system integration in Singapore. You will own the end-to-end commodity lifecycle within platform development and bridge engineering, supply chain, ODM, and commodity teams.

You will drive qualification readiness, risk management, and execution alignment, while managing cross-functional programs, delivering professional reports, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree or higher in CS, engineering, business, or related field.
  • Typically 3–7 years of work experience in engineering development, project planning, or related areas.

Responsibilities

  • Lead commodity development & qualification leadership.
  • Lead qualification planning & execution; maintain qualification matrix.
  • Track qualification status across suppliers & platforms.
  • Manage commodity-related deliverables within the overall platform program.
  • Align commodity schedule with platform milestones (NPI phases, builds, RTM).
  • Drive cross-functional execution with EE, ME, system team, and ODM.
  • Act as core interface across platform engineering, supply chain, procurement, ODM partners, and commodity teams.
  • Ensure alignment of requirements, timely decisions, and issue escalation/resolution.
  • Identify risks and create mitigation plans; report to executive management.
  • Coordinate sample readiness and test scope; ensure build schedules meet quality targets.
  • Represent commodity status in core team meetings and program reviews.

Job Summary
  • The Commodity Program Manager (CPM) is responsible for leading commodity development and qualification for system integration, acting as the counterpart to a System/Platform PM focused specifically on key components (e.g., memory, SSD, display, power, etc.).
  • Owns end-to-end commodity lifecycle within platform development
  • Serves as the bridge between engineering, supply chain, ODM, and commodity teams
  • Drives qualification readiness, risk management, and execution alignment

This role is responsible for leading teams/projects to solve common and complex business issues, by leveraging developed subject matter knowledge. The role manages and leads cross-functional program teams, delivers professional reports, develops schedules, budgets and resource plans, and tracks progress against the establishes plans, while leading less-experienced staff members. The role also identifies risks and creates mitigation plans, and reports the same to executive management.

Program Management (Commodity Scope)
  • Manage commodity-related deliverables within overall platform program

Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Act as the core team interface across:
    • Platform engineering
    • Supply chain / procurement
    • ODM partners
    • Commodity engineering teams
  • Ensure:
    • Alignment of requirements
    • Timely decision-making
    • Issue escalation and resolution
Risk Management & Issue Resolution
  • Identify and manage:
    • Supplier risks
    • Qualification risks
    • Supply shortages
  • Drive:
    • Mitigation plans for critical issues
    • Communication of risks to system team and leadership
Supply & Qualification Readiness
  • Coordinate:
    • Sample readiness (DB, SI, IUR, etc.)
    • Qualification coverage and test scope
  • Ensure commodity readiness meets:
    • Build schedules
    • Quality and reliability targets
Communication & Status Management
  • Represent commodity status in:
    • Core team meetings
    • Program reviews
  • Provide:
    • Clear status updates
    • Highlight critical blocking issues
    • Alignment with system/program PMs

Manages and leads a program involving one or more functions and project teams to drive the engineering development and implementation process for a subsystem or component of a product or service offering especially on key commodities. Leads moderate to high complexity projects, delivering professionally written reports, and supports the realization of operational and strategic plans. Understands the technical concepts, architecture, systems, development methods, and disciplines associated with the defined program, and utilizes knowledge to accelerate project completion. Leads the deployment, launch, and continuous improvement of new technologies & process automation developed within the company's worldwide engineering team. Develops schedules, critical deliverables, budget, resource allocation plan, logistics, and other support requirements for assigned program in collaboration with both the company & contract manufacturing teams. Coordinates activities of supporting project teams and internal and external development partners; tracks progress against established plan and makes decisions to alter or update schedule and resource allocation to meet product requirements and development schedule. Communicates program progress, escalations, and issue analysis to product stakeholders; collaborates with management and internal manufacturing and development partners to implement changes to product, process, or program plan to resolve escalated issues, produce solutions, and ensure adherence to budgets and established product roadmaps and schedules. Leads bug tracking resolution and reporting of program risks, status, and options for resolution to executive management. Solves difficult and complex problems with a fresh perspective, demonstrating good judgment in selecting creative solutions and managing projects independently. Leads and provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.

Education & Experience
  • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
  • Typically has 3-7 years of work experience, preferably in engineering development and implementation, project planning tools and software packages, people management, or a related field or an advanced degree with 3-5 years of work experience.
