Job summary

UMS SYSTEMS PTE. LTD. is seeking an experienced engineer to lead NPI reviews and manage file updates for project visibility.

You will guide CAD/ERP usage, GD&T interpretation, and process expertise, ensuring a smooth transition from design to production in high-mix, low-volume environments. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, Microelectronics, or a related field.
• Experience in Mechanical Design and drafting for Industrial Manufacturing.
• Proficiency in CAD software (2005 era to current) including SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and UG.

Responsibilities

• Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) reviews of customer drawings and specifications.
• Track NPI parts and maintain Process Development Sheets for project visibility.
• Guide engineers in CAD/ERP usage, GD&T interpretation, and special process expertise.
• Drive implementation of ECOs and ESWs.
• Ensure smooth transition from design to production in high‑mix, low‑volume projects.
• Oversee fixture design, BOM creation, and routing for job travelers.
• Decide site allocation and manage vendor outsourcing for specialized processes.
• Standardize workflows for project‑based assembly.
• Monitor and close SPS with customers.
• Lead continuous improvement in machining, polishing, cleaning, assembly, packing, leak testing, and process robustness.
• Provide technical authority across Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and Quality teams.
• Assist Purchasing with material selection and OEM part procurement.
• Support Quality in FAI submissions, FMEA generation, 8D reports, Failure Analysis of DMRs, and PQP activities.
• Prepare work instructions and ensure process adherence for Engineering and Assembly.
• Collaborate with customers on design improvements to enhance manufacturability and reliability.

• Drive implementation of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Engineering Specification Waivers(ESWs).


• Ensure smooth transition from design to production in high‑mix, low‑volume projects.


• Oversee fixture design, BOM creation, and routing for job travelers.


• Decide site allocation and manage vendor outsourcing for specialized processes.


• Standardize workflows for project‑based assembly.


• Monitor and close Supplier Problem Sheets (SPS)with customers.


• Lead continuous improvement in machining, polishing, cleaning, assembly, packing, leak testing, and process robustness.


• Provide technical authority and guidance across Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and Quality teams.


• Support resolution of DMM BOM issues.


• Advise on welding processes and fixture generation.


• Assist Purchasing with material selection and OEM part procurement.


• Support Quality team in FAI submissions, FMEA generation, customer 8D reports, Failure Analysis of DMRs, and PQP activities.


• Prepare work instructions and ensure process adherence for Engineering and Assembly.


• Collaborate with customers on design improvements to enhance manufacturability and reliability.

• Familiar with ISO norms and standards and with conventional drafting stations.


• Familiar with ASTM spec, ASME Y14.5M-1994 & ASME Y14.38-1999 and GD&T specification.


• Knowledgeable in DOS, MS Office software such as Word processing, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentation and other software related to drawings and management system.


• Familiar with all the special process ex. Anodize, EN-plating…


• Familiar with material types and purpose.


• Familiar with welding AWS (clean room and non-clean room).


• Familiar with tubing, fittings and other OEM parts.


• Knowledge of semiconductor and equipment assembly process.


• Familiar with technical issues solving on the assemble parts.


• Familiar the semiconductors components process.


• Familiar the process improvement.


• Familiar the helium leak, hydrostatic leak test and load test.


• Familiar the OEM components specs.


• Writing skills for preparing manuals, parts lists, proposals and design documentation


• Time-management skills for meeting deadlines

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree inElectrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, Microelectronics, or a related field.


• Experienced in Mechanical Design and drafting work for Industrial Manufacturing Industries


• Well versed in CAD software from version 2005, 3D CAD, 3D Auto Desk Inventor, Solid Works and UG


• Familiar with ISO norms and standards and with conventional drafting stations


• Knowledgeable in DOS, MS Office software such as Word processing, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentation and other software related to drawings and management system
