Job summary

Singapore General Hospital seeks an Engineer (Telecommunications) to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable telecommunication services that support SGH's needs. You will oversee PABX systems, IP telephony, and related services to ensure high availability and performance.

As SME for telecommunications, you will provide technical advisory, support infrastructure planning, and drive service improvements and technology adoption.

Qualifications

• Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Avaya, Cisco, NEC, Microsoft, AWS, Azure) are advantageous.
• Knowledge of IP telephony and VoIP technologies (SIP, H.323) and networking/firewall basics.
• Experience supporting enterprise telecom infrastructure or services.
• Experience in vendor management, procurement, contract management, or project coordination is advantageous.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience preparing presentations, reports or management papers is advantageous.
• Good organisational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage vendors responsible for maintenance and support of PABX and IP telephony systems, ensuring service availability and performance.
• Monitor system performance and coordinate upgrades, patching, incident resolution, and failover activities.
• Coordinate with network, infrastructure, cloud, and cybersecurity teams for secure telecom solutions.
• Provide technical input for new developments and technology initiatives to ensure scalable and future-ready solutions.
• Act as SME for telecommunication systems, evaluating solutions and supporting planning.
• Monitor vendor performance against SLAs and drive service improvements.
• Support procurement and contract management activities including evaluations and reviews.
• Assist in budgeting, expenditure tracking, and lifecycle management of telecom systems.
• Prepare presentations, reports, and business cases for management and stakeholders.
• Manage telecommunication projects to ensure timely delivery and alignment with objectives.

The Job:

The Engineer (Telecommunications) is responsible for delivering reliable, secure, and future-ready telecommunication services that support SGH's organisational needs. The role oversees enterprise PABX systems, IP telephony infrastructure, and related telecommunication services to ensure high availability, scalability, and service excellence.

Acting as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for telecommunications services, the incumbent provides technical advisory and supports infrastructure planning, service improvement initiatives, and technology adoption activities.

The role focuses primarily on vendor management, service governance, stakeholder engagement, procurement support, budgeting, and project coordination, while ensuring telecommunication solutions remain aligned with organisational objectives and technology standards.

Your job roles will include but not be limited to the following:

• Manage vendors responsible for the maintenance and support of PABX and IP telephony systems, ensuring service availability and performance.
