Job summary

NOVA-TECH MFG PTE. LTD. seeks a hands-on Surface Treatment Engineer to lead end-to-end workflows from NPI to mass production in Singapore. You’ll manage in-house cleaning, polishing and laboratory analyses, and act as technical lead for external vendors.

The role requires strong problem-solving, supplier management experience, and a solid background in anodizing, passivation, electropolishing, plating or coating within semiconductor or precision machining settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years hands-on surface treatment experience.
• Knowledge of anodizing, passivation, electropolishing, plating or coating.
• Strong problem-solving with shopfloor support capability.
• Experience with supplier management and outsourced processes.
• Familiarity with engineering drawings, surface specs & ISO systems.
• Semiconductor or precision machining background is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end surface treatment workflows from NPI through Mass Production.
• Manage in-house Cleaning, Polishing and Laboratory bath analysis.
• Act as technical lead for 3rd-party surface treatment vendors.
• Conduct process audits and ensure purity and cosmetic standards.
• Lead Failure Analysis for defects and determine origin.
• Drive First Article Inspection (FAI) and process qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ).
• Establish and maintain SOPs, WIs, PFMEAs, and Control Plans.
• Drive yield improvement and cost-down initiatives for in-house and outsourced processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure end-to-end integration and performance.
• Support customer audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ad-hoc duties as assigned by Superior.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end surface treatment workflows (Cleaning, Polishing, Anodizing, Plating, etc.) from NPI through Mass Production, ensuring seamless transitions between internal and external stages.
• Hands-on management of in-house Cleaning, Polishing and Laboratory bath analysis.
• Act as the technical lead for 3rd-party surface treatment vendors.
• Conduct process audits, review chemical bath reports, and ensure suppliers meet semiconductor-grade purity and cosmetic standards.
• Lead Failure Analysis (FA) for defects such as pitting, discoloration, or outgassing issues. Distinguish whether defects originated from in-house machining, cleaning, or 3rd-party plating.
• Drive First Article Inspection (FAI) and process qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) for new parts.
• Establish and maintain robust SOPs, WIs, PFMEAs, and Control Plans. Ensure all chemical handling aligns with environmental and safety regulations.
• Drive yield improvement and cost-down initiatives for both in-house processes and outsourced services.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (machining, quality, suppliers) to ensure end-to-end process integration and performance.
• Support customer audits, technical reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform any other ad-hoc duties or assignments assigned by the Superior.

Job Requirement

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+years of hands-on experience in surface treatment / finishing.
• Knowledge in anodizing, passivation, electropolishing, plating, or coating.
• Strong problem-solving skills with hands-on shopfloor support capability.
• Experience with supplier management and outsourced processes.
• Familiarity with engineering drawings, surface specs & ISO systems.
• Semiconductor or precision machining background is a plus.
• Willing to work in the East Region (Changi North Crescent).
