Job summary

ST Engineering Marine Ltd. in Singapore is looking for a hands-on Production Leader to plan, deploy and maintain scaffolding for ship maintenance and repair tasks, ensuring structures meet safety standards and support operations.

You will mentor the production team, manage resource allocation, coordinate with other departments for timely erection and dismantling, and drive compliance with maritime safety rules.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Marine Engineering.
• Diploma holders with 5 years of relevant experience; fresh graduates may apply.
• Able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
• Proficient with MS Office; able to guide and deploy workers.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Assist the Production head in planning, deployment, and maintenance of scaffolding for ship maintenance and repair tasks.
• Ensure scaffolding structures meet safety standards and are built to accommodate operational needs.
• Coordinate with other departments on timely erection and dismantling of scaffolding.

Scaffolding Provision

• Assist the Production head in planning, deployment, and maintenance of scaffolding for ship maintenance and repair tasks.
• Ensure scaffolding structures meet safety standards and are built to accommodate operational needs.
• Coordinate with other departments on timely erection and dismantling of scaffolding.

Cleaning/Painting Provision

• Assist the Production head in planning, deployment of manpower for painting/cleaning works.
• Understanding various methods of surface preparation, coating material and industrial standards and regulations to painting works.
• Coordination of all painting/cleaning activities effectively and safely.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, maritime laws, and company policies.
• Promote a culture of safety.
• Provide training and guidance on safety practices for all department personnel.

Team Leadership & Management

• Lead, manage, and mentor the production team, ensuring effective communication and cooperation across various functions.
• Set performance targets, conduct performance reviews, and provide professional development opportunities for team members.
• Manage departmental schedules, ensuring optimal staffing and resource allocation.

Resource Management

• Oversee the allocation of resources (personnel, equipment, materials) for all production tasks.
• Monitor inventory levels and ensure the timely procurement of materials required for ongoing operations.
• Control department budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations without compromising quality or safety.

Collaboration & Reporting

• Work closely with other department heads, Ship repair managers, and customers to ensure smooth operations and project coordination.
• Provide regular progress reports, identifying challenges and proposing solutions to senior management.

Requirements

• Degree/ Diploma in Mechanical or Marine Engineering.
• (Dip holders with 5 years’ relevant working experience)
• No experience may apply.

• Able to deal with and communicate with both internal and external stakeholders effectively at all levels.
• Possess man-management experience to supervise and deploy workers.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Work overtime when required.
• Able to follow security, safety and shipyard discipline.
