Job summary

WSP Asia in Singapore is seeking an Engineer (Mechanical) to provide competent, independent mechanical engineering support on projects of limited to moderate complexity, covering ACMV, Fire Protection, Sanitary and Plumbing systems.

You will design, analyse, and document across the full project lifecycle, collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams, leverage BIM/CAD tools, and help ensure compliance with Singapore codes and SHEQ standards while applying professional engineering judgement.

Qualifications

  • Recognised degree in Mechanical Engineering and PEB registration where applicable.
  • Experience with ACMV/HVAC, Fire Protection and Plumbing design.
  • Knowledge of Singapore codes of practice and local authority submissions.

  • The role leverages digital and emerging technologies, including data‑enabled and AI‑assisted engineering tools, to support efficient analysis, design development, documentation and coordination while maintaining professional engineering judgement

Purpose

Responsibilities
  • Design Delivery (Mechanical Engineering Services)
  • Provide mechanical engineering design support for assigned projects.
  • Deliver mechanical services across the full project lifecycle, including:
  • Concept design
  • Design development
  • Contract documentation
  • Authority submissions
  • Site administration and project completion
  • Handle mechanical design works relating to ACMV, Fire Protection, Sanitary and Plumbing services in accordance with project scope and briefs.
  • Technical Analysis, Design Development & Problem Solving
  • Solve routine and selected non‑routine mechanical engineering problems within own discipline, applying established engineering principles.
  • Conduct and contribute to technical discussions on common mechanical design issues, supporting the development of practical, buildable solutions.
  • Escalate complex technical matters appropriately while assisting with solution development under guidance from senior engineers.
  • Quality, Documentation & Construction Support
  • Assist in maintaining high standards of design quality and construction delivery in line with company, project and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the preparation and coordination of mechanical engineering documentation, including calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports.
  • Provide technical support during construction, site activities and project delivery stages, as appropriate to role and level.
  • Stakeholder Coordination & Team Collaboration
  • Work collaboratively within the project team and across disciplines to support coordinated design outcomes and effective project delivery.
  • Support communication and coordination with internal stakeholders and external parties (e.g. clients, consultants, contractors, authorities), as required.
  • Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ)
  • Participate in and support the Company’s Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) requirements within the scope of duties.
  • Comply with established safety procedures and contribute to a positive safety and quality culture across design and site activities.
  • Digital, Data & AI‑Enabled Engineering Support
  • Use approved digital, generative and agentic AI tools to support mechanical engineering analysis, design development and documentation tasks under supervision.
  • Apply AI‑assisted tools to improve efficiency in design calculations checking, system sizing, design iteration and preparation of technical documentation.
  • Support the use of AI‑enabled tools for data analysis, design option comparison, constructability reviews and early identification of design risks.
  • Assist with automated or semi‑automated generation of design deliverables (e.g. calculation narratives, schedules, reports), ensuring outputs are reviewed and verified in accordance with engineering standards.
  • Use digital tools to support multidisciplinary coordination, clash identification and resolution (e.g. via BIM‑enabled workflows).
  • Maintain awareness of ethical, quality, data security and regulatory considerations when using AI‑enabled tools in engineering activities.
  • Escalate limitations or uncertainties arising from AI‑assisted outputs and apply professional engineering judgement at all times

Requirements
  • Recognised Degree in Mechanical Engineering, registrable with PEB Singapore
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in design engineering of ACMV / HVAC, Fire Protection and Plumbing services with engineering consultancies in Singapore
  • Relevant experience in building services and/or infrastructure projects
  • Good understanding of Singapore Codes of Practice and local authority submission processes (e.g. BCA, LTA, PUB)
  • Knowledge of industry regulatory requirements and legislation
  • BIM and CAD capabilities (Revit, MicroStation, AutoCAD) will be an added advantage
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance / operational metrics
  • Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines to define requirements, solve complex problems and deliver projects successfully
  • Exposure to or interest in digital, computational or AI‑enabled engineering tools (e.g. BIM‑based automation, data analysis, AI‑assisted design or documentation tools) is an advantage
