Job summary

HTX is Singapore's Science and Technology agency focused on operationally ready solutions for public safety. The role involves developing, integrating, and evaluating smart and autonomous capabilities, with emphasis on robotics, sensing, and interoperability across heterogeneous systems.

Two-year contract with potential for tenure based on performance. Applicants may undergo medical declaration and additional assessment.

• Conduct technology prototyping, experimentation, testing, and validation activities.
• Support field trials, evaluations, and deployment of developed capabilities.
• Analyse operational challenges and translate research into deployable capabilities.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on capability development and technology integration.

The pillar develops capabilities across automation, systems integration, and autonomy through robotics, sensing technologies, smart infrastructure, and interoperable platforms. The role involves developing, integrating, and evaluating Smart & Autonomous capabilities, while supporting the translation of emerging technologies and research outcomes into operationally relevant solutions.In addition, the role includes supporting technology development, experimentation, deployment, and capability transition, ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, and operationally relevant.

What you will be working on:

• Develop and integrate technologies for Smart & Autonomous systems and/or system-of-systems operations.
• Develop capabilities involving sensing, decision-making, system coordination, and operational automation.
• Integrate robotic platforms, sensors, infrastructure systems, and operational technologies into cohesive solutions.
• Develop and evaluate middleware, interoperability, and system integration capabilities across heterogeneous systems.
• Conduct technology prototyping, experimentation, testing, and validation activities.
• Support field trials, operational evaluations, and deployment of developed capabilities.
• Analyse operational challenges and develop innovative technology solutions to address mission needs.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on capability development and technology integration activities.

What we are looking for:

• Tertiary Education in engineering; preferably Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or related disciplines.
• Post-graduate degree would be an advantage.
• Strong research or applied engineering background in robotics, autonomous systems, or smart technologies.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience, or equivalent demonstrated competency, in robotics, software engineering, automation or related fields.
• Knowledge or experience in middleware, interoperability frameworks, or digital platforms such as Open-RMF, Open Digital Platform (ODP), or equivalent technologies would be an advantage.
• Familiarity with multi-robot systems, robot-infrastructure integration, distributed systems, or system-of-systems architectures would be an added advantage.
• Experience in applied research, experimentation, technology prototyping, or R&D would be advantageous.
• Ability to translate research outcomes and emerging technologies into practical and deployable operational capabilities.
• Strong analytical, technical writing and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent team player with strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills.
• Self-motivated and committed with a sense of urgency to deliver desired outcomes.

All new hires are appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.
