Job summary

HTX is seeking a capable professional to regulate fire safety standards in buildings and audit plans, with site inspections to ensure compliance with Fire Code and related practices.

You will liaise with industry professionals, provide consultative input to the building industry, and support daily administrative tasks as part of a contract through 31 December 2027.

Qualifications

• Diploma, preferably degree, in Architecture, Engineering, Science or Estate/Facilities management.
• At least 5 years' experience in building industry with fire safety design, testing or inspection.
• Knowledge of local Fire Code and related Codes of Practices is advantageous.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently or in a team.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
• Contractual appointment until 31 December 2027.

Responsibilities

• Regulate fire safety standards in buildings per Fire Safety Act and Regulations.
• Attend and respond to industry professionals such as QP/RI on inspection matters.
• Address enquiries from RI, QP, FSM and the public about fire safety systems.
• Audit plans submitted by QPs.
• Conduct site inspections for completed fire safety works.
• Investigate fire safety-related complaints and feedback.
• Assist with day-to-day administrative matters.

HTX is looking for a suitable candidate with passion for fire safety and be part of the team to regulate fire safety standards in buildings. This is done through the processing of Temporary Fire Permit/Fire Safety Certificate applications, auditing of building/fire protection/mechanical ventilation plans and carrying out of site inspection to ensure the completed buildings are in compliance of the requirements stipulated in the Fire Code and relevant Codes of Practices. The job-holder may also be required to provide consultations to the building industry.

The job-holder will report to his immediate team leader and the Senior Assistant Director of the Fire Safety Department in SCDF.

What you will be working on

• Assist in regulating fire safety standards in buildings in accordance with the provisions of the Fire Safety Act and Regulations
• Attend and respond to industry professionals such as QP (Qualified Person)/RI (Registered Inspector) on matters related to inspection matters and requirements of Fire Code
• Attend to enquires from RI, QP, FSM (Fire Safety Manager) & members of public regarding buildings’ fire safety systems and code of practices.
• Audit plans submitted by QPs.
• Conduct site inspection for completed fire safety works.
• Investigate fire safety related complaints and feedback cases.
• Assist with the day-to-day administrative matters.

What We Are Looking For

Job requirements

• Diploma, preferably degree, in Architecture, Engineering, Science or Estate/Facilities management.
• Preferably with at least 5 years experience in the building industry involving design, testing or inspection of fire safety system.
• Knowledge in local Fire Code and other relevant Codes of Practices will be an advantage.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team.
• Possesses good verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
• * All new appointees will be appointed on a contract till 31st December 2027.
