Job summary

Singtel Group is seeking a Cloud/IT Operations professional in Singapore to plan, implement and deliver cloud projects, while ensuring reliable daily server and storage operations. The role involves liaising with vendors, testing new software and patches, and developing automation to improve efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have a engineering or computing degree, strong problem solving and planning skills, and a proactive, self-driven approach to managing outages and deployments.

Responsibilities

• Involve in technical planning, implementation and delivery of Cloud projects.
• Develop and review test cases for the Cloud service.
• Liaise and coordinate with system vendor(s) for delivery, testing and timely implementation of new software, hardware and patches.
• Perform system and service testing to roll-out new related products and services.
• Support the daily operation of servers (HW & SW, Linux) and storage systems.
• Apply system patches and coordinate upgrades; participate in disaster recovery activities.
• Develop playbooks and scripts to automate processes and improve efficiency.
• May need to work outside normal hours for upgrades and patch loading.
• Be on rostered standby to handle unplanned system faults and service degradation.
• Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis for software & hardware faults.

How You will Make An Impact:

Service Delivery

• Involve in technical planning, implementation and delivery of Cloud projects.
• Develop and review test cases for the Cloud service.
• Liaise and co-ordinate with system vendor(s) for the delivery, testing and timely implementation of new software, hardware and patches.
• Perform system and service testing to roll-out new related products and services.

Service Operations

• Responsible for supporting the daily operation of servers (HW & SW mainly in Linux OS) and storage systems.
• System and Platform Patch loading, implementation of software and hardware upgrades
• Perform and coordinate disaster recovery activity expeditiously in times of service disruptions so as to minimize service downtime and revenue loss.
• Develop playbook and scripts to automate processes to improve operational efficiency
• May need to work outside normal working hours to carry out upgrades and patch loading as such activities may disrupt services.
• The successful candidate is required to be on rostered standby alert to handle unplanned system faults and/or service degradation.
• Troubleshoot and perform root causes failure analysis for software & hardware faults related to the network nodes.
