Job summary

Garena is hiring a Backend Engineer to help build and optimize common game services, including payments and account systems. You will work with software engineers, product managers and QA to deliver scalable APIs with a focus on stability and performance.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field and at least 2 years of backend experience. Proficiency in Go, Python and SQL is expected, with familiarity in Docker/Kubernetes as a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
• At least 2 years of experience as a Backend Engineer in large-scale or internet systems.
• Proficient in Go, Python, SQL; knowledge of Docker/Kubernetes preferred.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with software engineers, product managers and QA engineers to continuously build and improve common game services, including Payment and Account systems.
• Develop, maintain and optimize backend services and APIs with a focus on stability, performance and reliability.
• Contribute to system design and architecture improvements to enhance system stability, performance and reliability.
• Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code, and participate in code reviews.
• Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve system quality and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems or related science/tech field
• At least 2 years of experience as a Backend Engineer, preferably in large-scale or internet-based systems.
• Proficient in the following languages and practice on a regular basis: Go, Python, SQL; Knowledge and experience in Docker and/or Kubernetes (k8s) is preferable
• Deep understanding of computer architectures, data structures and algorithms.
• Hands-on experience in using AI tools to enhance engineering productivity; Exposure to AI-related system integrations is a plus
• Strong problem solving skills and logical thinking
• Have an open-minded, agile and proactive mindset with strong willingness to learn
• Have good team communication and collaboration skills.
