Job summary

Sea in Singapore is seeking an experienced Backend Engineer (see requirements) to own backend services and APIs end-to-end, while collaborating with product and design teams to deliver complete product experiences. You will implement AI‑powered workflows and ensure scalable, secure systems.

You will mentor peers, optimize infrastructure, and contribute to frontend changes as needed to ship features with high quality and ownership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant backend development experience.
• Strong CS fundamentals across data structures, algorithms, operating systems, networks, and databases.
• Hands-on full-stack (backend focused) development experience using Go or Python.
• Familiarity with RESTful API design and relational database design.
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to contribute to user‑facing features.
• Experience using AI‑assisted development tools or evaluating and adopting new tools.
• Experience in web security and designing or developing large‑scale distributed systems is preferred.
• Knowledge of React, Angular, Vue and deep web performance is preferred.

Job Description

• Own backend services and APIs from design through production, and contribute to frontend changes when needed to ship complete product features
• Translate stakeholder needs into robust technical solutions and AI‑powered product workflows, spanning estimation, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring to improve user experience, productivity, and ways of working across the organization
• Develop and integrate backend services and APIs with frontend applications, working closely with product managers, designers, other engineers, and cross‑functional teams to deliver complete product experiences
• Leverage AI‑native engineering practices, including AI‑assisted development, agentic programming, and harness engineering, to accelerate delivery while writing clean, maintainable, and well‑tested code with strong ownership of quality through reviews and documentation
• Mentor and coach junior engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and hands‑on support to help improve team capability and engineering standards
• Plan and support infrastructure, deployment, and operational readiness for new features and services
• Continuously improve system performance, reliability, scalability, and developer efficiency

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in backend development
• Passionate about coding, innovation, and solving challenging problems
• Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, operating systems, networks, and databases
• Hands‑on full‑stack (Backend Focused) development experience through professional work or internships, using Go, Python, or similar languages
• Familiarity with OOP, RESTful API design, relational database design, and caching systems
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript sufficient to contribute to user‑facing features
• Experience using AI‑assisted development tools, or a demonstrated ability to evaluate and adopt new engineering tools thoughtfully
• Experience in web security and designing or developing large‑scale distributed systems is preferred
• Knowledge of React, Angular, Vue and deep web performance is preferred
