Job summary

LITE-ON SINGAPORE PTE. LTD. invites a senior researcher to join the CIPS Research Team in Singapore. Lead embedded firmware design on MCUs/DSPs/FPGA, develop real-time control loops, and guide system architecture and testing for power and cooling innovations.

The role requires a PhD/Master in Electrical/Electronic/Control Engineering with 8+ years in control theory, signal processing, and leadership, plus strong MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++ skills and lab prototyping experience.

Qualifications

  • PhD or Master’s degree in Electrical / Electronic / Control Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years experience in control theory and signal processing with 3 years in a leadership or team-lead role.
  • Understanding of common power electronic architectures (AC/DC, DC/AC, DC/DC, etc) and control methods.
  • Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink, embedded software (C/C++), and software architecture design.
  • Experience defining and setting up controller platforms and code management across multiple projects.
  • Solid understanding of microcontroller architectures, sensors, and communication protocols.
  • Hands-on prototyping and testing experience using oscilloscopes, electronic loads and power analysers.
  • Expertise in using simulation tools to aid the development and assessment of the proposed solution (MATLAB, Simulink, Python, LTspice, etc.)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership and communication skills.
  • Experience planning projects, allocating engineering resource and project status reporting.
  • Demonstrated passion for innovation and commitment to continuous learning.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team to design and implement embedded firmware in C/C++ and HDLs on MCUs, DSPs and FPGAs.
  • Develop real-time control loops, PWM generation, ADC sampling, protection, fault handling, calibration, communications and sensor integration.
  • Own controller selection, understanding hardware and control requirements to select appropriate controllers.
  • Create automated unit and integration tests, supporting HIL/SIL test benches.
  • Contribute to system requirements, architecture, code reviews, and documentation.
  • Use coding standards and software version control to produce understandable and re-useable software.
  • Support design for safety, compliance and reliability.
  • Continuously research controller devices and architectures for lab demonstrations and product integration.
  • Write research reports, design guides, patents and performance reports.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Cloud Infrastructure Platform and Solutions (CIPS) Research Team. Our CIPS Research team is focussed on developing future technology systems to support growth in the rapidly evolving data center sector. The successful candidate will be directly involved in early-stage research projects, working with academic institutions, suppliers, customers, and partners to deliver proof of concept designs.

Key Responsibilities
