Job summary

Responsibilities

• Assemble and integrate mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and sensor-based systems.

• Support tool build, sub-assembly prep, calibration setup, and manufacturing trials.
• Perform functional checks and electrical continuity and pressure/temperature tests.
• Troubleshoot mechatronic issues with sensors, motors, and control components.

• Conduct in-process checks and visual inspections; record data and non-conformances.

Job description

MFG - Mechatronics Technician role requires a practical background in mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, instrumentation, sensors, and manufacturing test support. This role focuses on building, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining wireline logging tools.

Role and Responsibilities:

Mechatronics Assembly and Integration:

Assemble and integrate mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and sensor-based systems according to drawings, work instructions, BOMs, and test procedures.

Carry out wiring, cable routing, connector assembly, basic soldering, mechanical fitting, alignment, and installation of sensors, motors, actuators, and control components.

Support tool build, sub-assembly preparation, final assembly, calibration setup, and manufacturing trial builds.

Testing, Calibration and Troubleshooting:

Perform functional checks, electrical continuity checks, signal verification, pressure/temperature-related tests, and equipment readiness checks.

Troubleshoot mechatronic issues involving sensors, motors, wiring, fixtures, test stations, mechanical movement, and basic control systems.

Assist engineers in root cause investigation, corrective actions, and improvement of test methods, fixtures, and manufacturing processes.

Production Equipment and Fixture Support:

Set up, operate, and maintain production tools, test fixtures, jigs, and calibration equipment.

Perform routine preventive maintenance and housekeeping for tools, fixtures, and work areas.

Identify abnormal equipment conditions, report issues promptly, and support repair or recovery activities to minimize production downtime.

Quality and Documentation:

Perform in-process checks and visual inspections to ensure assemblies meet drawing, workmanship, safety, and quality requirements.

Record assembly results, test data, serial numbers, non-conformances, rework actions, and equipment checks accurately.

Follow approved procedures and support compliance with company QMS, safety, and manufacturing documentation requirements.

Technology Adoption and Continuous Improvement:

Keep an open mind toward new manufacturing technologies, automation tools, digital work instructions, data collection, and process improvement ideas.

Provide practical feedback from the shop floor and propose simple, effective improvements to improve safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency.

Take initiative to learn new tools, support pilot runs, and help turn engineering ideas into workable manufacturing solutions.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with engineers, supervisors, production planners, QC, supply chain, and other technicians to support smooth production flow.

Communicate issues clearly, ask questions when requirements are unclear, and be receptive to comments, feedback, and alternative ideas.

Participate in team discussions, safety briefings, and continuous improvement activities.

Skills and Experiences:

Hands-on experience in mechatronics assembly, equipment maintenance, manufacturing test support, or similar technical production environment.

Basic knowledge of mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, sensors, instrumentation, motors, actuators, and control components.

Ability to read and follow mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, work instructions, test procedures, and equipment manuals.

Good troubleshooting mindset with strong attention to detail, safety, cleanliness, and documentation accuracy.

Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, multimeters, crimping tools, torque tools, measurement tools, and basic test equipment.

Experience with MCUs, automation, pneumatic or hydraulic systems, and high-temperature or high-pressure test environments is an advantage.

General:

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

NITEC / Higher NITEC /Diploma in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automation, or a related technical field.

Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, mechatronics assembly, or production test support.

Experience in precision assembly, oil and gas tools, high-reliability equipment, or industrial automation is a plus.

Relevant technical certification, safety training, or equipment operation certification is an advantage.
