Job summary

Mirai Electronics Pte. Ltd. seeks an experienced field engineer to lead installation, testing and commissioning of RTUs in 6.6kV and 22kV substations across Singapore.

You will install and test wiring between RTUs, protection relays, meters and switchgear, perform fault-finding, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Experience in SCADA/RTU systems is required, with on-site supervision and strong communication skills in English.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical installation and repair in substations, SCADA or RTU works.
• Proven capability to work with 6.6kV and 22kV substation environments.
• Strong knowledge of RTU wiring, control and signalling circuits and industrial protocols.
• Able to supervise a team and work independently on site.
• Familiar with Singapore workplace safety requirements and substation access procedures.
• Electrical qualification (Nitec/Higher Nitec/Diploma) or equivalent work experience.
• Willing to work on-site at various locations in Singapore, including after-hours/shutdowns.
• Good communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise site teams for installation, testing and commissioning of RTUs in substations.
• Install, terminate and test control, signalling and communication wiring between RTUs, protection relays, meters, transducers and switchgear.
• Carry out fault-finding, repair and replacement of RTUs, I/O modules, power supplies and communications equipment.
• Read and work from single line diagrams, wiring schematics and panel drawings.
• Perform point-to-point and signal verification with the control room or SCADA team during commissioning.
• Follow permit-to-work and electrical safety procedures at live substations; conduct toolbox briefings.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers and client representatives on schedules, site access and handover.
• Prepare site records, test reports and as-built mark-ups.
• Guide and train junior technicians and ensure workmanship meets client and statutory standards.

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in electrical and electronic installation and repair, preferably in substation, SCADA or RTU works
• Proven experience with 6.6kV and 22kV substation environments
• Strong knowledge of RTU wiring, control and signalling circuits, and industrial communication protocols (e.g. Modbus, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3)
• Able to supervise a team and work independently on site
• Familiar with Singapore workplace safety requirements and substation access procedures
• Relevant electrical or engineering qualification (e.g. Nitec/Higher Nitec/Diploma) or equivalent work experience
• Able to work on-site at various locations in Singapore, including occasional after-hours or shutdown work
• Good communication skills in English
