Job summary

Pathlight School invites applications for a teaching role at our Ang Mo Kio or Tampines campuses. The position supports students on the autism spectrum, providing instruction aligned with MOE curriculum and life readiness goals. Training will be provided; no prior experience is required.

Qualifications

  • Min. Diploma or GCE 'A' Levels.
  • NIE DIE/DISE or equivalent teaching qualification is a plus.
  • No prior experience required – training will be provided.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Pathlight School MOE-aligned curriculum experience appreciated.

Responsibilities

  • Plan engaging and well-paced lessons considering diverse learner profiles.
  • Deliver lessons using evidence-based pedagogy and meaningful activities.
  • Implement assessments to monitor progress and provide feedback.
  • Build strong relationships with students through care and encouragement.
  • Formulate data-based IEP/ITP plans with families and allied professionals.
  • Utilize AAC methods and assistive learning devices as needed.

  • Support school initiatives and participate in committees.

Job description

Join us in Transforming Lives Together! Pathlight School is the first autism-focused school in Singapore to offer the national curriculum together with life readiness skills. It caters to students on the autism spectrum with related conditions, aged 7 to 18 years, who are cognitively able to access national curriculum but require additional support such as smaller class sizes, special accommodations and teaching staff trained in autism.

The team at Pathlight School Primary School is responsible for providing quality education and nurturing students to be future-ready, lifelong learners.

Curriculum and Instructional Excellence
  • Plan engaging and well-paced lessons taking account of the diverse learner profiles of students
  • Deliver lessons using evidence-based pedagogy and meaningful activities to meet the education needs of individual students
  • Implement appropriate modes of assessment to monitor student progress by providing accurate feedback and implementing suitable instructional support to close gaps
Holistic student development
  • Build a strong relationship with students by demonstrating care, concern and encouragement
  • Formulate data-based student centres IEP / ITP process for all students, and support their attainment of IEP / ITP goals through appropriate strategies implemented in partnership with families / caregivers, Allied Professionals and other relevant stakeholders
  • Implement appropriate methods and tools to better support ongoing, suitable, student development, e.g., Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) methods, adaptive/assistive learning devices or learning technology
  • Design and implement positive, robust classroom routines and practices to create and maintain a safe and conducive learning environment as well as foster student development and well-being
  • Implement techniques and behaviour plans to manage students with complex and challenging behaviours
  • Manage emergency situations to resolve any immediate safety concerns and implement required school processes
Professional development
  • Proactively engage in professional development for knowledge and skills development
  • Participate in professional learning teams to foster collaborative learning between staff members
Projects, programmes and initiatives
  • Assist in a CCA to enhance students' learning experiences
  • Participate as a committee member to support various school initiatives and / or events
Partnerships and stakeholder management
  • Maintain direct communications with external stakeholders (e.g. families, caregivers, community partners and commercial partners) to support students and / or school initiatives
  • Work in partnership with families to support student learning and Transition Planning to achieve positive post school outcomes
Organisation Management and Development
  • Manage daily administrative task (e.g track attendance, collect forms, update families/caregivers)
Requirements
  • Min. Diploma or GCE 'A' Levels
  • No prior experience required — training will be provided.
  • Vacancies are available at our Ang Mo Kio and Tampines campuses
  • Candidates with teaching qualifications from NIE e.g. Diploma in Special Education (DISE) or its equivalent, will be considered as Trained Educator
  • Passion to help special needs students maximise their talents and potential
