Job summary

The National University of Singapore invites applications for the position of AI Engineer in the Centre for Holistic Inquiry into Lifelong Learning (CHILL). Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/AI/DS or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong Python skills and software engineering fundamentals; knowledge of Node.js/TypeScript is a plus.
• Hands-on with open-source or open-weight ML models (LLMs, RL, TTS) through coursework or projects.
• Interest in generative AI for language, vision, speech or multimodal apps.
• Experience integrating ML models into apps, APIs or automated pipelines is a plus.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience; strong project or internship experience welcome.
• Willingness to work in an exploratory, research-adjacent environment with evolving requirements.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills; interest in educational tech is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and iterate the AI generation pipeline for SPARK apps.
• Evaluate generative AI capabilities for educational content and learning experiences.
• Explore open-source/open-weight models and integrate chosen approaches into workflows.
• Contribute to SPARK App features and support evaluation studies with data instrumentation.
• Collaborate with instructor-facing and student-facing interface teams.
