Mediacorp Pte. Ltd. is seeking an experienced editor to join the International Desk, shaping coverage of Greater China and guiding correspondents across Asia-Pacific. You will edit scripts for TV news and oversee video packages, ensuring high editorial standards and timely decisions.

The role requires strong news judgment, native English (Mandarin helpful), and willingness to work irregular shifts. Based in Singapore, you will collaborate across platforms and contribute to newsroom innovation.

Qualifications

  • At least seven years of editorial experience in TV news.
  • Strong news sense with deep interest in Greater China and Asia-Pacific affairs.
  • Native-level English; Mandarin is an advantage.
  • Excellent editing, writing, and story-shaping skills.
  • Willingness to work irregular shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Supervising Editor (International Desk) in shaping and driving coverage of major news in the Greater China region.
  • Provide editorial leadership to ensure a pipeline of original, value-added stories from Greater China-based correspondents.
  • Monitor news developments in Greater China and deliver timely, concise assessments for coverage decisions.
  • Exercise strong news judgment to identify stories with regional/global resonance for CNA’s audiences.
  • Edit standard-length and feature-length TV news scripts to high editorial standards.
  • Assemble and oversee standard-length and feature-length video packages for TV news.
  • Plan major news events and guide correspondents during assignments and breaking news.
  • Undertake rostered International Desk duty editor shifts and coordinate with Output and editors.
  • Maintain regular editorial discussions with correspondents and escalate bureau issues when needed.
  • Track Greater China developments across the Asia-Pacific and globally to guide coverage direction.
  • Initiate and lead editorial projects for regional and international awards.
  • Contribute to CNA’s adoption of new technologies and social media to strengthen storytelling.
  • Assist in bureau operations and personnel management per Mediacorp guidelines.
  • Build networks with government officials, business leaders, and analysts to support coverage.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Support the Supervising Editor (International Desk) in shaping and driving coverage of major news and current affairs in the Greater China region.

  • Provide editorial leadership to ensure a consistent pipeline of original, value-added, and impactful stories from Greater China–based correspondents, in line with CNA’s editorial standards and priorities.

  • Closely monitor news developments in Greater China and deliver timely, concise, and accurate editorial assessments to inform coverage decisions.

  • Exercise strong news judgment in identifying and developing stories with regional and global resonance for CNA’s Asia-based and international audiences.

  • Edit standard-length (two to three minutes) and feature-length (five to 10 minutes) TV news scripts to a high editorial standard.

  • Assemble and oversee the production of standard-length and feature-length video packages for TV news.

  • Play a key role in planning major news events and guide correspondents throughout assignments, from daily outputs to breaking news situations.

  • Undertake rostered International Desk duty editor shifts, coordinating closely with Output, correspondents, and fellow regional editors to deliver timely and accurate coverage.

  • Maintain regular editorial discussions with correspondents, identifying bureau issues, development needs, and training opportunities, and escalating these to senior editors where appropriate.

  • Track Greater China–related developments across the Asia-Pacific region and globally, providing editorial insight to guide coverage direction.

  • Initiate and lead editorial projects with the potential for submission to regional and international media awards.

  • Contribute to CNA’s adoption of new technologies and social media tools to strengthen storytelling and newsroom workflows.

  • Assist in the management of bureau operations and personnel in accordance with Mediacorp’s guidelines and requirements.

  • Build and sustain a strong network of government officials, business leaders, private sector professionals, and analysts to support coverage.


QUALIFICATIONS


  • At least seven years of editorial experience, preferably in TV news; experience covering or working on Greater China is an advantage.

  • Strong news sense with deep interest in Greater China and Asia-Pacific current affairs.

  • Native-level proficiency in English; proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is an advantage.

  • Excellent editing, writing, and story-shaping skills.

  • Strong understanding of geopolitical sensitivities and awareness of editorial and operational red lines.

  • Able to operate independently while providing editorial leadership within a team and working effectively across platforms (e.g. digital and radio).

  • Experience working with AI and social media tools is an advantage.

  • Willingness to work irregular shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
