Job summary

Xiaomi Technology Singapore is seeking a motivated software engineering intern to learn researching, designing, and developing software for managing large-scale distributed database and storage systems.

You will assist with requirements analysis, contribute to software solutions, and help test and validate capabilities. Collaboration across teams and mentorship will prepare you for production environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with graduation 2026/2027.
• Strong foundations in data structures, algorithms, OS, networks, databases and architecture.
• Understanding of distributed systems concepts (Raft, ACID, MVCC, sharding, CAP).
• Proficiency in at least one language: Golang, Java, Python, or Rust.
• Ability to communicate in Mandarin and English with regional stakeholders.
• Willingness to learn and contribute to production infrastructure systems.

Responsibilities

• Learn to research, design, and develop software for large-scale distributed DB/storage systems.
• Assist in analysing user and system requirements and contribute to software solutions.
• Help update and enhance existing software and participate in testing/validation.
• Collaborate with engineers across teams to support integration of database systems.
• Under mentor guidance, build tooling for monitoring, capacity planning, backup, and incident response.
• Participate in on-call rotations and production incident remediation after onboarding.
