Job summary

Avani Singapore seeks an experienced Director of Finance to lead all financial pre-opening activities and establish a foundation for long-term success. You will work closely with ownership and the leadership team to enable informed decision-making and strong financial health from day one.

You will oversee budgeting, controls, reporting, and compliance, while building a capable finance team and fostering relationships with banks, authorities, and external partners.

Qualifications

• Degree in Finance or Accounting required.
• Minimum 5 years in senior finance leadership within hospitality.
• Pre-opening experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead all pre-opening finance activities, including setup, governance, OS&E, systems implementation, budgeting, and controls.
• Partner with General Manager to support commercial decisions and growth.
• Collaborate with owners, consultants, contractors, banks, and authorities during development or pre-opening.
• Drive financial strategy, planning, forecasting, and performance management for the hotel.
• Oversee financial reporting, cash flow, audits, and statutory compliance.
• Establish internal controls, governance, and risk management practices.
• Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing finance team.

We're looking for an experienced Director of Finance, or a very strong senior finance leader ready to step into this level, to lead all financial pre-opening activities and establish a strong foundation for long-term success.

What You'll Do

• Lead all finance pre-opening activities, including financial set-up, procurement governance, OS&E management, systems implementation, budgeting, controls, reporting, licensing support, banking relationships, and overall financial readiness ahead of opening
• Partner with the General Manager and leadership team to support commercial decision-making and business growth
• Work closely with JV partners, consultants, contractors, banks, auditors, local authorities, and external partners to support the pre-opening programme and build strong working relationships from the outset
• Drive the hotel's financial strategy, planning, forecasting, and performance management
• Oversee financial reporting, cash flow management, audits, statutory compliance, and tax requirements
• Establish and maintain strong internal controls, governance frameworks, and risk management practices
• Manage capital expenditure reviews, procurement controls, and investment analysis
• Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing Finance team
• Build productive relationships with corporate teams, auditors, banks, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders

What We're Looking For

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, with a professional accounting qualification
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior finance leadership role within hospitality; candidates currently operating as a strong Financial Controller or Chief Accountant may also be considered
• Proven track record of driving hotel financial performance and business results
• Strong knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, taxation, budgeting, and internal controls
• Experience with SunSystems, Opera, Micros, or similar hospitality platforms
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills
• Pre-opening hotel experience is strongly preferred, with exposure to financial set-up, procurement governance, OS&E, systems implementation, and operational readiness
• Experience working with owners, consultants, contractors, and local authorities during hotel development, renovation, or pre-opening projects would be advantageous
• Strong knowledge of Singapore accounting standards, tax regulations, statutory reporting requirements, and financial compliance frameworks
• Previous finance leadership experience within Singapore hospitality would be advantageous
