Reporting to the Head of Design & Engineering, you will take responsibility for coordinating engineering design activities from concept development and detailed design through construction support, commissioning readiness and operational handover. You will work closely with architectural, structural, electrical and mechanical consultants to ensure design requirements are effectively translated into practical, buildable and maintainable solutions. A key focus will be ensuring critical infrastructure systems meet project requirements for capacity, redundancy, reliability, energy efficiency and future scalability. The role will involve reviewing design drawings, technical specifications, equipment layouts and engineering submissions, while coordinating design interfaces across multiple disciplines. You will lead technical design reviews, identify potential conflicts and manage the resolution of engineering issues affecting construction, equipment installation or operational performance. You will also support value engineering, design optimisation and equipment selection activities, working closely with project delivery teams, contractors and specialist vendors to ensure design intent is maintained throughout construction and commissioning. The role will require regular engagement with internal stakeholders, engineering consultants and project teams to monitor design progress, manage technical risks and ensure key design milestones are achieved.
The successful candidate will hold a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline, or possess an equivalent relevant qualification, with at least 8 years of engineering design and project delivery experience within data centres, mission‑critical infrastructure or large‑scale MEP projects. You should have a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical infrastructure, data centre redundancy principles, design coordination and construction interfaces. Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering consultants and reviewing technical designs for large-scale infrastructure developments is essential. Candidates should be confident working with engineering drawings, BIM coordination processes and technical specifications, with strong project management and stakeholder engagement capabilities. Experience delivering hyperscale or colocation data centre projects will be highly advantageous.
8-15+ years in engineering design or project delivery, including data centres or other mission‑critical infrastructure.
