Job summary

Coherent Corp. in Singapore is seeking a skilled machinist for precision optical components. You will control and verify thickness, set up diamond-turning machines, align tools, calibrate equipment and configure processes to meet exact specs.

The role focuses on achieving high-quality finishes on mirrors and lenses, using interferometers and metrology tools, with a 12-hour onsite shift schedule that may include weekends and public holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with competency in math.
• Precision machining, Mechatronics or CNC programming.
• 1-2 years of experience in precision machining or CNC operations.
• Machine shop experience, particularly in precision machining, is a plus.
• Familiarity with optical metrology and inspection tools.

Responsibilities

• Control and verify thickness; prepare and set up diamond-turning machines.

Finish quality, and optical figure of all machined parts. Adjust the correct diamond-cutting tools based on material and desired specifications. Perform precision machining of components, such as mirrors or lenses, by controlling the diamond-cutting tool, Inspect parts during and after machining to ensure they meet required specifications, using tools like interferometers and other measuring instruments to verify optical quality and finish.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent, with competency in math and algebra skills.
• Precision machining, Mechatronics or CNC programming
• 1-2 years of experience in precision machining or CNC operations.
• Machine shop experience, particularly in precision machining, is a plus.
• Familiarity with optical metrology and inspection tools

Skills

• Knowledge of selecting and adjusting diamond-cutting tools for specific tasks and materials.
• Understanding of safety protocols when working with machinery, tools, and materials to maintain a safe work environment.
