Job summary

Coherent Singapore Pte Ltd is seeking a precision machinist for on-site work involving diamond-turning operations and optical component finishing. You will set up diamond-cutting machines, align tools, and calibrate equipment to meet strict specifications.

Responsibilities include inspecting mirrors, lenses, and other optics using interferometers and precision instruments. The role requires 1–2 years in precision machining, familiarity with optical metrology, and willingness to work 12-hour

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with strong math skills.
• 1–2 years in precision machining or CNC operations.
• Familiarity with optical metrology and inspection tools.
• Machine shop experience in precision machining is a plus.

• Control and verify thickness; prepare and set up diamond-turning machines.
• Ensure tool alignment, machine calibration, and configuration for tasks.
• Monitor finish quality and optical figures of machined parts.
• Inspect parts during and after machining using interferometers and measuring instruments.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

The role involves controlling and verifying the thickness, prepare and set up diamond-turning machines, ensuring proper tool alignment, machine calibration, and configuration for the specific task. Finish quality, and optical figure of all machined parts. Adjust the correct diamond-cutting tools based on material and desired specifications. Perform precision machining of components, such as mirrors or lenses, by controlling the diamond-cutting tool, Inspect parts during and after machining to ensure they meet required specifications, using tools like interferometers and other measuring instruments to verify optical quality and finish.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent, with competency in math and algebra skills.
• Precision machining, Mechatronics or CNC programming
• 1-2 years of experience in precision machining or CNC operations.
• Machine shop experience, particularly in precision machining, is a plus.
• Familiarity with optical metrology and inspection tools

Skills

• Knowledge of selecting and adjusting diamond-cutting tools for specific tasks and materials.
• Understanding of safety protocols when working with machinery, tools, and materials to maintain a safe work environment.

Working Conditions

• This role is 100% onsite
• Rotating 12hrs Shift
• Willing to work Weekend and public Holiday
