Job summary

NTUC FIRST CAMPUS LIMITED seeks a Development Support Specialist to enhance inclusivity in NFC preschool environments and elevate teacher capability in supporting children with moderate to high intervention needs.

The role includes supporting one or more MFS centre clusters, collaborating with school principals, teachers, NFCs and in-house therapists to develop functional IEP goals and classroom strategies for dual schoolers or waitlist children awaiting EIPIC assessments.

Qualifications

  • Must have strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Adequate knowledge in identifying learning needs (e.g., GDD, ASD, ADHD).
  • Relevant expertise in special needs is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with principals, teachers, NFCs, therapists, parents, EIPIC schools and external therapists to craft IEP goals.
  • Plan and deliver classroom support and differentiated instruction for children with special needs.

Job description

The Development Support Specialist is part of the Development Support Specialist Team within the Child Support Services department.

The role is to enhance educational inclusivity in the NFC preschool environment as well as to increase teacher skills and competency in supporting children requiring moderate to high level of intervention support.

Job Responsibilities:

The DSS will be assigned to either one, or a cluster of MFS centres identified to require further support, beyond existing Child Support Services Programmes, such as Development Support-Learning Support (DSLS), DS-Plus, Inclusive Preschool Programme (INSP), or Co-Classroom Facilitator (CCF).

  • Ratio for support required: 1:15 children (These children are either attending EIPIC (dual schoolers), waiting to join EIPIC (waitlisters) or children who are waiting for clinical assessments.)
  • DSS will arrange to collaborate, communicate and work closely with different stakeholders (MFS cluster principals, teachers, NFC’s, In-House Therapist team, parents, EIPIC schools and external therapists)
  • She will also work closely with interventionists and therapists from EIPIC schools, MFS teachers and NFC’s, In House therapist to craft out functional IEPs goals for dual schoolers and children who are waiting for EIPIC (waitlisters)
  • DSS will plan her own schedule to support the children under her supervision/care.
  • DSS will work closely with class teachers to provide in classroom support for dual schoolers and waitlisters.
  • DSS will guide teachers with creative differentiated instructions(modification, adaptations) for the dual schoolers and waitlisters to help them integrate better in a mainstream classroom.
  • DSS will also share strategies/ resources for teachers to implement in the classroom to support the child/children with learning needs.
Job Requirements:
  • Experienced Senior Learning Support Educator (with 5 years of experience), or
  • Individual with ADESN (Advanced Diploma in Early Childhood Intervention, Special Needs), or
  • Individual with EIPIC experience and more than 2 years of ECE background.
