Job summary

Chaucer Underwriting Services Limited in Singapore is seeking a Deputy Class Underwriter for Cargo to join a dynamic Marine underwriting team focused on Cargo with a regional ASEAN and Asia reach. You will contribute to growth through risk assessment, rating analyses and collaboration with peers.

You will work with brokers, monitor renewals and support underwriting systems, while liaising with the Marine Global team in London to ensure high underwriting standards and regional opportunities.

Qualifications

• Degree Dip CII or equivalent, working towards ACII.
• Minimum 5 years relevant underwriting experience.
• ACII or equivalent is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Review new and renewal risks including slip analysis.
• Perform rating analyses and contract certainty review.
• Monitor premiums and assist in PML analyses with modelling team.
• Assist with risk monitoring and renewal processes.
• Prepare reports and statistics for underwriters.
• Support underwriting systems development and benchmarking models.
• Liaise with brokers and build strong working relationships.
• Assist in slip preparation for peer review and liaise with reviewers.
• Utilise market sources to keep abreast of technical factors in Cargo and Hull.
• Attend market risk presentations and liaise with specialist teams.
• Collaborate with other Chaucer business areas including claims and actuarial.
• Work with Marine Global team in London for referrals and expertise.
• Identify regional business opportunities with the Singapore Marine Class Underwriter.
