Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) is seeking an experienced Data Governance professional to strengthen enterprise data governance capabilities.

You will influence how data is managed across MAS, shaping enterprise policies, standards and practical solutions to make data easier to find, understand, share and use. This role focuses on governance, metadata, data quality, and data-driven decision making to support analytics and responsible AI.

Qualificações

• Experience in data governance, data management or information governance in a large organisation or public sector is preferred.
• Understanding of ownership, stewardship, metadata, data quality, classification, access and lifecycle management.
• Appreciation of data as an asset enabling analytics and AI with focus on quality, context and provenance.

Responsabilidades

• Shape MAS' enterprise data governance approach by creating policies, frameworks and standards that meet Whole-of-Government requirements and MAS needs.
• Lead initiatives to strengthen data management practices across ownership, stewardship, metadata, data quality, classification, access, sharing and lifecycle management.
• Improve data discovery and understanding by advancing MAS' data catalogue and metadata capabilities.
• Strengthen data readiness for analytics and AI through improved quality, context and provenance.
• Embed governance into data and AI initiatives to ensure responsible innovation across MAS.
• Tackle complex data governance issues and provide sound advice with practical solutions.
• Oversee data incident management and follow-up with departments to identify root causes and strengthen controls.
• Strengthen data accountability and adoption by engaging departments and translating governance requirements into everyday practices.

What the role is

The Enterprise Knowledge Department is looking for an experienced Data Governance professional to strengthen and advance MAS' enterprise data governance capabilities.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to influence how data is managed and used across MAS, from setting enterprise-wide policies and standards to developing practical solutions that make data easier to find, understand, share and use. You will work closely with business and technology teams, navigate complex governance challenges, and help build the trusted data foundations that enable MAS to harness data, analytics and AI more effectively.

What you will be working on

• Shape MAS' enterprise data governance approach by developing policies, frameworks and standards that meet Whole-of-Government requirements while addressing MAS' business and operational needs.
• Lead initiatives to strengthen data management practices across data ownership and stewardship, metadata, data quality, classification, access, sharing and lifecycle management.
• Improve how data is discovered and understood by advancing MAS' enterprise data catalogue and metadata capabilities, making it easier for departments to find and use relevant data.
• Strengthen data readiness for analytics and AI by improving data quality, context, provenance and governance to support reliable and responsible use.
• Embed governance into data and AI initiatives, working with business and technology teams to address governance considerations early and enable responsible innovation.
• Tackle complex and emerging data governance issues, providing sound advice and developing practical solutions that balance data use, security and compliance.
• Oversee data incident management and follow-up by working with relevant departments to assess incidents, identify root causes and strengthen controls to prevent recurrence.
• Strengthen data accountability and adoption across MAS by engaging departments, building awareness and translating governance requirements into everyday practices.

What we are looking for

• Relevant qualifications in data or information management, information systems, computer science, public policy, business, law or a related discipline.
• Experience in data governance, data management, information governance or related fields, preferably in a large organisation, public sector or regulated environment.
• Sound understanding of data governance principles and practices, including data ownership and stewardship, metadata, data quality, classification, access, sharing and lifecycle management.
• Good appreciation of how trusted and well-governed data enables analytics and AI, including the importance of data quality, context and provenance.
• Familiarity with Whole-of-Government data policies and frameworks would be an advantage.
• Experience with enterprise data platforms, data catalogues or metadata management solutions, such as Snowflake Horizon Catalogue or similar tools, would be advantageous.
• Strong analytical and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to navigate complex issues, influence stakeholders and translate governance requirements into workable solutions.
• Self-driven and collaborative, with the ability to take ownership of initiatives and work effectively with stakeholders across MAS.

You will be working in a fast-paced environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and needs of stakeholders, as well as the agility to respond to changes and developments.

This is a 2-year contract position. As part of the shortlisting process for this role, you may be required to complete a medical declaration and/or undergo further assessment.
