Job summary

The Enterprise Knowledge Department at MAS is seeking an experienced Data Governance professional to strengthen and advance MAS’ enterprise data governance capabilities. You will influence how data is managed and used across MAS, from setting enterprise-wide policies and standards to developing practical solutions that make data easier to find, understand, share and use.

You will work with business and technology teams to tackle governance challenges, build trusted data foundations for analytics

Qualifications

• Relevant degree in data or information management, information systems, computer science, public policy, business or related discipline.
• Experience in data governance, data management, information governance or related fields in a large organisation or public sector.
• Understanding of data ownership, metadata, data quality, classification, access, sharing and lifecycle management.
• Appreciation of how data enables analytics and AI with focus on quality, context and provenance.
• Familiarity with Whole-of-Government data policies and frameworks an advantage.
• Experience with enterprise data platforms or metadata management tools like data catalogues.
• Strong analytical and stakeholder engagement skills; able to translate governance needs into workable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Shape MAS’ enterprise data governance approach by developing policies, frameworks and standards.
• Lead initiatives to strengthen data management practices across ownership, metadata, quality and lifecycle.
• Improve data discovery and understanding via enterprise data catalogue and metadata capabilities.
• Strengthen data readiness for analytics and AI with data quality, context and provenance.
• Embed governance into data and AI initiatives with early consideration of governance in projects.
• Tackle complex data governance issues and provide practical, compliant solutions.
• Oversee data incident management and follow-up to strengthen controls.
