Job description

Our client is seeking ]Department Manager to oversee the overall performance of a retail department. This role is responsible for driving sales growth, managing merchandising strategies, optimizing inventory, leading a high-performing team, and ensuring excellent customer service while maintaining operational efficiency and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement merchandising and sales strategies to achieve sales, profitability, and inventory targets.
  • Manage buying budgets, product assortment, inventory levels, and merchandise planning.
  • Identify market trends, customer preferences, and business opportunities to enhance product offerings.
  • Source new products and suppliers while maintaining strong relationships with existing vendors.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and favorable commercial terms.
  • Plan and coordinate merchandise sourcing, procurement, and overseas buying activities.
  • Oversee department renovation and improvement projects where required.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the department to ensure smooth business performance.
  • Monitor sales performance, operating expenses, and inventory levels, implementing improvements where necessary.
  • Prepare sales forecasts, budgets, and management reports.
  • Plan and execute promotional campaigns, advertising activities, and visual merchandising initiatives.
  • Support digital marketing initiatives to drive both in-store and online sales performance.
  • Lead, motivate, and supervise department staff and promoters to achieve operational and sales objectives.
  • Plan manpower requirements, prepare staff rosters, and ensure effective workforce utilization.
  • Conduct training, coaching, performance reviews, and staff development initiatives.
  • Ensure high standards of customer service by addressing customer feedback and resolving complaints promptly.
  • Continuously improve operational processes, merchandise assortment, and service standards based on customer needs.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, workplace safety regulations, and government requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company information and business operations.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the management.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in retail management, merchandising, buying, or department management.
  • Strong knowledge of retail operations, inventory management, merchandising, and procurement.
