Job summary

Merquri is seeking a MongoDB Database Administrator to own and strengthen our mission-critical MongoDB environment. You will drive architecture, performance, scalability and reliability, with exposure to Oracle and PostgreSQL in a cloud-forward production landscape.

You will design replica sets and sharded clusters for high availability, optimise queries and indexes, and manage both Atlas and self-managed deployments across AWS, GCP or Azure.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of hands-on MongoDB administration in production.
• Experience with Replica Sets, Sharding and Cluster Management.
• Strong knowledge of WiredTiger storage engine, indexing and profiling tools.
• Experience in Linux/Unix performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Experience managing workloads on AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Good command of English; Mandarin would be an advantage for regional collaboration.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage the complete MongoDB lifecycle: architecture, deployment, upgrades, maintenance and security hardening.
• Design and manage Replica Sets and Sharded Clusters for high availability and horizontal scaling.
• Monitor production databases and resolve performance issues, including locking and replication lag.
• Optimise queries, aggregations and indexing in collaboration with development teams.
• Manage MongoDB Atlas and self-managed workloads across AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Develop and maintain backup, recovery, point-in-time restore and failover procedures.
• Automate routine DBA activities and health checks.
• Participate in rotational on-call for production support.

We are looking for a MongoDB Database Administrator to manage and strengthen our mission-critical database environment.

In this role, you will take ownership of MongoDB architecture, performance, scalability and reliability while gaining exposure to relational database environments such as Oracle and PostgreSQL. You will work closely with technical teams to improve database performance, resilience and operational efficiency across cloud and production environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the complete MongoDB lifecycle, including architecture, deployment, upgrades, maintenance and security hardening.
• Design and manage Replica Sets and Sharded Clusters for high availability and horizontal scaling.
• Monitor production databases and resolve performance issues, including locking, memory utilisation and replication lag.
• Optimise queries, aggregation pipelines and indexing strategies in collaboration with development teams.
• Manage MongoDB Atlas and self-managed database workloads across AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Develop and maintain backup, recovery, point-in-time restore and failover procedures.
• Support Oracle, PostgreSQL or other database environments when required.
• Automate routine database administration and health-check activities.
• Participate in a rotational on-call schedule for production support.

What We’re Looking For

• 2-5 years of hands-on experience administering MongoDB in a production environment.
• Practical experience with Replica Sets, Sharding and Cluster Management.
• Strong knowledge of the WiredTiger storage engine, indexing and MongoDB profiling tools.
• Experience in database performance tuning and troubleshooting on Linux or Unix.
• Experience managing database workloads on AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Good command of English; proficiency in Mandarin Chinese would be an advantage when collaborating with regional teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Good to Have

• Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL or other NoSQL databases.
• Python or Shell scripting experience for database automation.
• Knowledge of TLS/SSL, RBAC and encryption at rest.
• Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana or MongoDB Ops Manager.
