Job summary

UNITECH CONSULTING PTE. LTD. in Singapore is seeking a seasoned Database Administrator to manage Sybase ASE and PostgreSQL environments, ensuring high availability and performance.

You will handle complex tasks, incident response, and production support across the organization. The role requires strong experience with replication, backups, tuning, and OS-level tasks, plus familiarity with Control-M for job scheduling and DB schema/partition management.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Sybase ASE, Replication server and PostgreSQL.
• Backup and restore of databases.
• Tuning databases and application queries and perform server access/login management.
• Performance tuning, troubleshooting, and resolving database integrity issues.
• Experience in Production Server Environment.
• DBA experience with installations, upgrades and patching for Sybase and PostgreSQL.
• Exposure to development support/ debugging BAU issues.
• OS level activities related to database tasks.
• Log, scheduled Job Management through Control-M or similar tools.
• Schema Object and Partition Management.

Responsibilities

• Takes up technical tasks and supports day to day BAU tasks, Incidents, RFCs.
• Supports team during diagnosis of technical issues within scope of expertise.
• Proposes service improvements for Sybase/PostgreSQL services across the organization.
• Provides technical knowledge to maintain availability and reliability of database infrastructure per SLA.
• Engages during high severity issues and drives towards resolution.
• Reviews technology changes to identify potential risks.
• Aware of global IT structure and interrelationships within the organization.
• Engages with peers, development, service managers, architects on technology roadmap.
• Facilitates transformation projects and future directions for improvements.

Job description

• Takes up technical tasks and support day to day BAU tasks/Incidents/RFC’s.
• Supports his/her team during diagnosis when technical issues rise in his/her scope of expertise.
• Proposes service improvements for all Sybase/PostgreSQL services supported throughout the organization.
• Provides technical knowledge, supports services both proactively and reactively to maintain the availability and reliability of database system infrastructure in accordance to the SLA.
• Actively engages during any high severity issue and drives for issue resolution.
• Reviews technology changes to identify potential risks.
• Supports his/her team during diagnosis when technical issues rise in his/her scope of expertise.
• Is aware of the global IT structure so that he/she anticipates interrelationships within the organization.
• Engages with technical peer, Development team, Service managers, Architect and project teams on technology roadmap and projects.
• Facilitates transformation projects and suggest future directions for new areas of improvement and enhancements.
• Guarantees the production readiness.
• Is available and able to drive technically, any complex or high severity incidents that occur within the scope of their role.
• Actively engages to understand new technologies and technology trends and reviews them with a view to incorporate them into Bank operations.

Requirements

• Must have strong technical knowledge in Sybase ASE, Replication server and Postgres.
• Backup and restore of databases.

• Performance tuning, troubleshooting, and resolving database integrity issues.
• Experience to Production Server Environment.
• Should have handled database installations, upgrade & patching as Sybase and Postgress DBA.
• Application DBA Exposure.
• Sybase ASE 15.x/Postgres 12.x and above database administration experience.
• Knowledge in Replication, Clustering in Sybase/Postgres 12.x and above.
• Exposure to new features of current ASE /PostgreSQL version.
• Development support/ debugging BAU issues.
• OS level activities related to database tasks.
• Log, scheduled Job Management through Control-M or similar products.
• Schema Object, Partition Management.
