Job summary

RAPSYS TECHNOLOGIES PTE. LTD. is seeking a data scientist with a quantitative background to tackle real-world NLP and AI challenges in public services. You will apply data science and machine learning to translate user needs into analytical problems and prototype solutions.

Work with policy and tech teams to design experiments, build robust evaluation datasets, and help productionize models while upholding responsible AI, privacy and security standards.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent practical experience in a quantitative field.
• Experience using data science or ML to solve real-world problems, preferably NLP/generative AI or information retrieval.
• Strong Python skills and working knowledge of SQL, data processing and version control.
• Solid understanding of statistics, experimental design, evaluation, sampling, error analysis and model validation.
• Experience with unstructured text or complex data and evaluating ML/AI systems beyond a single metric.
• Familiarity with embeddings, language models, prompt design and model evaluation.
• Ability to write maintainable code and collaborate with engineers to productionize data-science solutions.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills; proactive and collaborative.

Responsibilities

• Work with policy, communications officers, product owners and engineers to translate user needs into analytical and ML problems.
• Develop and maintain evaluation frameworks and datasets for NLP and ML use cases.
• Design experiments to improve model quality, latency, reliability and cost.
• Explore models and techniques; recommend evidence-based solutions.
• Perform systematic error analysis and identify performance gaps across use cases.
• Establish automated and human evaluation approaches, considering metric limitations and AI risks.
• Partner with engineers to integrate improvements and monitor production performance.
• Ensure data, experiments and model decisions are reproducible and compliant with privacy and security requirements.
