Qualifications

• 4 years of experience as Data Scientist or Data Engineer in AI-enabled products
• Experience with multilingual NLP or translation quality evaluation
• Experience building AI-enabled products in regulated or high-assurance environments
• Strong Python and SQL, data processing, version control and software practices
• Statistics, experimental design, evaluation, sampling and model validation
• Experience with unstructured text and production ML systems
• Knowledge of embeddings, language models, prompt design and model evaluation
• Ability to write maintainable code and collaborate with engineers
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
• Proactive, collaborative mindset and willingness to improve public services through tech

Responsibilities

• Understand user needs and translate them into clear analytical and ML problems.
• Develop and maintain evaluation datasets for NLP and AI use cases.
• Design experiments to assess model quality, latency and cost.
• Explore models and techniques; recommend data-driven solutions.
• Perform systematic error analysis and prioritize improvements.
• Establish automated and human-evaluation approaches.
• Collaborate with engineers to productionize improvements.
• Ensure data, experiments and model decisions are reproducible and documented.
• Communicate findings and trade-offs clearly to stakeholders across the organization.
