Job summary

Mistral is seeking a Domain Expert in crashworthiness simulations to advance AI-accelerated structural mechanics for industrial engineering. You will join cross-functional teams and develop datasets, validation strategies, and AI-enabled prediction models that align with real-world engineering standards.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in mechanical/structural engineering, computational mechanics, or related field.
• 4+ years of industrial experience in automotive, aerospace, or consumer electronics.
• Hands-on experience with explicit dynamics for crash/impact simulation and nonlinear FEM.
• Experience with simulation validation, correlation, and KPI definition.
• Strong Python development for automation, data processing, and model evaluation, with good software practices.
• Experience in Linux/HPC environments and running batch simulations on a compute cluster.

Responsibilities

• Define, generate, and improve simulation datasets for training and evaluating crashworthiness models.
• Design and run high-fidelity simulation campaigns using Abaqus, LS-DYNA, Ansys Mechanical, Radioss or equivalent tools.
• Define variation space for training data: geometry, mesh, material, boundary conditions, loading, joints, failure modes, KPIs.
• Build or guide automated pipelines for simulation setup, execution, post-processing, dataset creation, and evaluation.
• Train and evaluate AI models on simulation data and diagnose data gaps or numerical artifacts.
• Evaluate model outputs against industrial needs: field accuracy, deformation modes, energy absorption, and failure indicators.
• Collaborate with customers to understand workflows, define use cases, and incorporate feedback.
