Job summary

The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Counsellor in University Counselling Services (UCS). You will provide clinical psychological support to students and collaborate with campus units to enhance wellbeing.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Deliver various counselling modalities, risk and needs assessments and evidence-based intervention plans.
• Conduct case formulation, prepare assessment reports, present cases, and make referrals to relevant services.
• Escalate and co-manage at-risk and crisis cases with senior mental health practitioners as appropriate.
• Document and maintain accurate, timely clinical records in accordance with UCS policies and procedures.
• Respond to and manage crisis situations, ensuring appropriate safety planning, escalation, and follow-up.
• Advocate for student mental health needs and coordinate care across services and stakeholders.
• Maintain clinical documentation and case records that meet UCS and University governance requirements.
• Work collaboratively with schools/faculties, student affairs offices, Halls of Residence, and other units to support students with complex mental health issues.

The University Counselling Services (UCS) (Health and Wellbeing, Office of the President) is responsible for the innovation, implementation and evaluation of health & wellbeing services and programmes which support the general student population in NUS, as well as specific students who are exposed to acute mentally-stressful events. As a Counsellor at UCS, you will provide clinical psychological support to individual students and work with departmental leaders, stakeholders, and peers, to enhance students' health and wellbeing. Qualifications

• Masters degree in Counselling or Counselling Psychology. - Good interpersonal skills
• Able to work with students and staff of culturally diverse backgrounds.
• Able to work as a counsellor independently with minimal guidance or supervision - Good command of written and spoken English.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, including capacity to liaise with internal and external stakeholders
• Able to collaborate and work in a team - Able to conduct risk assessment and provide the necessary support and intervention
• Able to provide strategic support in accordance with centre's goals
• Previous counselling experience involving crisis intervention and case management would be an advantage
• Experience in specialised work such us groupwork, trauma work, couple therapy, would be an advantage
• Interest and experience in areas linked to mental health including outreach, training, advocacy, and technology, is an advantage
• Available to work after office hours and weekends as needed.
