Job summary

Singapore Branch of a large Chinese bank is seeking an experienced Corporate Credit Analyst to perform in-depth credit assessments for corporate customers. You will evaluate financial performance, industry risks, and repayment capacity to provide sound credit recommendations in line with regulatory requirements and the bank's policies.

You will monitor credit facilities and risk indicators, identify early warning signals, and propose mitigations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in corporate credit analysis or credit risk assessment.
  • Strong knowledge of financial statement analysis and corporate credit assessment.
  • Understanding of corporate credit risk management and risk mitigation practices.
  • Fluency in English and Chinese is essential for collaborating with Head Office counterparts.
  • Professional qualifications such as CFA, FRM or ACCA will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive credit analysis and assessment of corporate customers.

  • Assess overall credit risk of corporate groups and assign client ratings.
  • Identify risk factors and recommend mitigation measures and controls.
  • Provide credit opinions on proposals for the Pre-Trial Committee and support as required.
  • Conduct industry research on market trends, dynamics, and risks.
  • Monitor facilities, commitments and key risk indicators for compliance.
  • Identify early warning signals and advise remedial actions.
  • Stay updated on regulatory requirements and bank credit policies.
  • Support other credit risk analyses and ad hoc projects.

Job description

We are representing our client, the Singapore branch of a large Chinese bank, to look for an experienced Corporate Credit Analyst to join the Risk Management Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting in-depth credit assessments of corporate customers, evaluating financial and industry risks, and providing sound credit recommendations in accordance with regulatory requirements and the Bank’s credit policies.


Job Responsibilities


  • Conduct comprehensive credit analysis and assessment of corporate customers, including reviewing credit applications for compliance with regulatory requirements and the Bank’s credit policies.

  • Analyse customers’ financial performance, business operations, cash flow, repayment capacity and overall creditworthiness to identify key credit risks.

  • Assess the overall credit risk of corporate groups and determine appropriate client credit ratings.

  • Identify key risk factors and recommend effective risk mitigation measures, credit controls and appropriate risk management strategies.

  • Review and provide credit opinions on proposals submitted to the Pre-Trial Committee, including providing relevant support and secretarial duties as required.

  • Conduct industry and sector research covering market trends, competitive dynamics, industry outlook and emerging risks across assigned sectors.

  • Monitor approved credit facilities, commitments and key risk indicators to ensure continued compliance with approved terms and conditions.

  • Identify early warning signals and emerging credit concerns and recommend timely and effective risk mitigation or remedial actions.

  • Stay abreast of relevant regulatory requirements, credit policies, market developments and industry trends affecting the Bank’s corporate customers.

  • Support other credit risk analysis, monitoring and ad hoc projects as assigned by the department.


Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in corporate credit analysis, credit risk assessment or corporate banking in a banking/ financial institution environment.

  • Strong knowledge of financial statement analysis, corporate credit assessment and banking credit facilities.

  • Solid understanding of corporate credit risk management, financial analysis, industry assessment and risk mitigation practices.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify key risks and formulate sound credit recommendations.

  • Professional qualifications such as CFA, FRM or ACCA will be an advantage.

  • Strong communication and people skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across functions.

  • Fluency in both English and Chinese is essential, as the role will require communication and collaboration with Chinese-speaking counterparts from Head Office.

  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgement and work effectively under tight timelines.
