Job summary

HP Singapore is seeking an undergraduate intern for the New Product Introduction (NPI) IT Control Systems team. You will assist vendors and engineers with proto setup, tooling modification, PLC programming, machine debugging and equipment installation in a factory environment.

Ideal candidates are pursuing Electrical, Software Engineering or Computer Science degrees, can commit 5-6 months full-time starting January 2027, and have a fundamentals in CAD, data analysis, and basic networking.

Qualifications

  • Current Bachelor or Masters undergraduate pursuing Electrical/Software Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Ability to commit for a 5-6 months full-time internship starting in January 2027.
  • Fundamentals in engineering concepts and CAD.
  • Basic data analysis and test planning knowledge.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, networking and IT basics is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist vendors setup of facility and GRE for proto setup.
  • Assist and support vendor for machinery landing and tooling install.
  • Assist engineers in debugging, assembly and commissioning of systems.
  • Develop and modify tooling with suppliers; perform testing and validation.
  • Engage NPI engineers on experimental builds and new manufacturing tech.
  • Spare management and maintenance of proto tooling and fixtures.

  • Hands on work with suppliers to develop mechanical fixtures/jigs design, tooling modification/customization, install and test
  • Develop tooling modification/customization, mechanical design improvements
  • Assist NPI Engineers with process characterization, gage R&R and NPI experiments
  • Assist NPI Engineers to buyoff FAT/ SAT
  • Periodic maintenance and calibration of online and offline tooling/gages
  • Audit tooling maintenance and calibration
  • Operate and hands on machinery for proto build runs
  • Engage and assist NPI Engineers on experimental builds, innovate and engineer new processes, new manufacturing technologies
  • Spare management
  • Maintain a master list containing OS version info, Anti virus version, IP, Backup and etc of all PCs deployed in proto environment
  • Knowledge on Backup and Storage systems in order to Perform regular backup jobs, verify backup integrity and data recovery on various platform such as Windows OS, PLC systems, leak testers, Vision Systems and offline test equipment.

  • Competent in a factory automation environment ie. able to debug and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) as well as other factory automation hardware/software such as digital input output, sensors and switches, motion control
  • Proficiency in Allen Bradley PLC ladder programming knowledge
  • Basic experience in configuring of IT network infrastructure to support the daily operation. Some understanding of networking basics of TCP/IP such as configuring IP addresses, ping commands, etc. Ability to configure new switches, identify faulty network component such as network card, cable, network port, switches.
  • Basic understanding on security configuration.
  • Basic understanding of Anti Virus working mechanism with ability to install/manage Anti Virus deployment.
  • Machine vision software and hardware (bonus). Able to read and understand AC/DC schematics will be an added advantage (bonus).
  • Knowledge on Python programming, C#, VB.net will be added advantage (bonus)
