Job summary

LEAP Learning Centre is seeking a devoted Chinese Language Teacher for a full-time role in Potong Pasir, Central Region. You will deliver Mandarin instruction to primary and secondary students, fostering language proficiency and cultural appreciation.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s in Chinese Language, a professional teaching qualification, and 2–3 years of teaching experience. Native or near-native Mandarin and strong classroom management are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chinese Language or related field.
• Professional teaching qualification or certification in Chinese Language education.
• 2–3 years of teaching experience at secondary level or language education setting.
• Native or near-native Mandarin proficiency with strong written and spoken skills.
• Strong understanding of secondary curriculum frameworks and language teaching methodologies.

About the role

LEAP Learning Centre is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Chinese Language Teacher to join our growing team. This is a full-time position based in Potong Pasir, Central Region. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality Mandarin Chinese instruction to Primary, Secondary students, fostering their linguistic abilities and cultural appreciation. As a Chinese Language Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping students' language proficiency and confidence, contributing directly to the academic success and personal development of our learners.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging Chinese language lessons that align with curriculum standards and learning objectives
• Assess student progress through various assessment methods, including formative and summative evaluations, and provide constructive feedback
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation and language practice
• Develop and utilise a variety of teaching materials and resources to enhance student engagement and comprehension
• Support students in developing listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in Mandarin Chinese
• Communicate regularly with students, parents and colleagues regarding academic progress and learning needs
• Participate in curriculum development and school activities to promote language learning and cultural awareness
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress and achievement
• Collaborate with fellow educators to ensure consistency in teaching standards and student support

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Chinese Language, Education or a related discipline
• Professional teaching qualification or certification in Chinese Language education
• Minimum of 2-3 years' teaching experience at secondary level, preferably in a language education setting
• Native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese with strong command of written and spoken language
• Excellent understanding of secondary curriculum frameworks and language teaching methodologies
• Demonstrated ability to engage and motivate students of varying proficiency levels
• Strong organisational and classroom management skills
• Ability to create dynamic, interactive lessons that promote active learning
• Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with best practices in language education
• Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for helping students develop language skills
