Job summary

VOYAGE CONSULTANTS PTE. LTD. is seeking an experienced Chief Legal Counsel to lead the organisation's legal function, providing strategic counsel to senior management on corporate, commercial and regulatory matters, and to guide risk management and governance.

You will draft and negotiate complex agreements, oversee regulatory compliance, coordinate with external counsel, regulators, and internal stakeholders, and establish robust legal policies and processes to support the business.

Qualifications

• JD, LLB or equivalent recognised legal qualification.
• Extensive experience in corporate, commercial and/or in-house practice.
• Experience advising senior management.
• Strong knowledge of corporate and commercial law.
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex agreements.
• Knowledge of legal risk management, governance and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Chief Legal Counsel to provide strategic legal leadership and comprehensive legal support to the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal advice and guidance to senior management on corporate, commercial and regulatory matters.
• Advise the organisation on legal risks arising from business activities, transactions and strategic initiatives.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, contracts and other legal documentation.
• Oversee corporate governance matters and support the organisation in maintaining appropriate legal and regulatory compliance.
• Identify, assess and manage legal and regulatory risks affecting the organisation.
• Provide legal support for business transactions, corporate initiatives and operational matters.
• Monitor relevant changes in laws and regulations and advise management on their potential impact on the business.
• Manage legal disputes and other contentious matters where required, including coordinating with external legal counsel.
• Work closely with management and internal stakeholders to develop practical solutions to complex legal and commercial issues.
• Establish and maintain appropriate legal policies, processes and documentation to support the organisation's operations.
• Liaise with external lawyers, regulators and other professional advisers where necessary.
• Provide leadership and direction on legal matters across the organisation.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD), Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent recognised legal qualification.
• Extensive professional experience in corporate, commercial and/or in-house legal practice.
• Strong experience providing legal advice to businesses and senior management.
• Strong knowledge of corporate and commercial legal matters.
• Demonstrated experience in reviewing, drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
• Strong understanding of legal risk management, corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and provide commercially practical legal advice.
• Ability to manage complex legal matters and work effectively with senior stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

• Significant experience in a senior in-house legal position.
• Experience serving as Legal Director, Senior Legal Counsel, General Counsel or a similar senior legal role.
• Experience advising organisations operating across multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience managing complex corporate and commercial legal matters.
• Experience working closely with senior management and business leaders.
• Strong background in legal risk management, regulatory compliance and corporate governance.

Educational Background

• Juris Doctor, Bachelor of Laws or equivalent professional legal qualification.
• Strong academic and professional background in law.
