JDA WMS Pte Ltd is seeking an experienced maritime professional to lead chartering and freight activities in Asia. You will source and fix vessels, negotiate terms, and manage budgets across dry bulk and container shipments.
The role requires a strong network with shipowners and brokers in China, Korea and the broader region, plus deep knowledge of laytime, COAs and demurrage. This is a senior, on-site position in Singapore.
Source, negotiate and fix dry bulk vessels including Handysize, Supramax/Ultramax, Panamax and Capesize as required.
Manage container freight arrangements with liner operators, NVOCCs and freight forwarders.
Negotiate freight rates, charter party terms, laytime, demurrage/despatch and COA arrangements.
Maintain strong relationships with shipowners, vessel operators and brokers, particularly across China, Korea and Asia.
Coordinate with trading, operations and logistics teams on cargo nominations, laycan planning, vessel fixtures and shipment execution.
Monitor dry bulk and container freight markets, including BDI, BCI, BPI and relevant container indices, to support fixing decisions.
Manage demurrage/despatch claims and resolve commercial or operational disputes.
Coordinate vessel vetting, sanctions screening, P&I and other compliance requirements.
Liaise with port agents, surveyors and terminal operators to support smooth shipment execution.
Support freight budgeting and identify opportunities to optimize transportation costs.
Bachelor's Degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Logistics, Business or a related field.
5–7+ years of chartering/freight experience, preferably covering both dry bulk and container shipments.
Experience handling steel, iron ore, coal and/or scrap is strongly preferred.
Established network of shipowners, operators and brokers across China, Korea or the broader Asian market.
Strong knowledge of charter party terms, COAs, laytime and demurrage.
Strong commercial negotiation and market-analysis skills.
Good understanding of vessel operations, port procedures and freight markets.
ICS qualification or equivalent is an advantage.
