Job summary

HOME BUILD WORKS PTE. LTD. in Singapore is seeking a motivated trainee carpenter to assist on construction sites, read blueprints, and perform measurements.

You will use hand and power tools to cut and shape wood, install simple fixtures, and help with safety on site. Training provided to develop carpentry skills.

Responsibilities

• Plans and lays out work from blueprints using carpentry tools and measuring instruments; selects materials.
• Ensures adequate supplies of tools, equipment, and materials for jobs at sites.
• Uses hand and power tools to measure, cut, and shape wood and related materials to spec.
• Fabricates, installs and repairs solid surface materials; joins with nails, screws, or adhesives.
• Repairs minor furniture.
• Assists carpenters in constructing and installing wooden structures; learn to read blueprints and plans.
• Measures, cuts and shapes wood and other materials to specs.
• Maintains tools and equipment in good working order.
• Participates in job site safety practices and regulations.
• Engages in hands-on training and skill development.

Job description

• Plans and lays out work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions using a varietyof carpenter hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments, makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, and selects materials necessary for the work
• Ensures and delivers an adequate supply of tools, equipment, and materials needed to complete jobs are at work sites as required
• Uses hand and power tools to measure, cut, and shape wood, drywall, and related materials to specification
• Uses hand and power tools to fabricate, install and repair solid surface materials (countertops, partitions and wall surfaces) Joins materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives Ensures adequate supplies of tools, equipment, and materials needed to complete jobs are at work sites as required
• Repairs and perform minor furniture repair
• Assist experienced carpenters in the construction, installation, and repair of structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials. Learn to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and building plans to understand project requirements.
• Help in measuring, cutting, and shaping wood and other materials according to specifications.
• Support in maintaining tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order.
• Participate in job site safety practices and adhere to all safety regulations.
