Job summary

Caliber8 Recruitment is seeking a commercially driven professional for a Trade Management role in Singapore. You will focus on vessel utilization, capacity optimization and profitability, coordinating with Commercial, Operations and Trade teams to optimize bookings and schedules.

The role requires strong analytical skills, experience in container shipping operations, and proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint. You will work with ship planners and handle exceptions to maximize vessel performance.

Qualifications

• Experience in container shipping operations or Trade Management.
• Strong understanding of vessel capacity and voyage utilization.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with FIS/Qlik helpful.
• Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage vessel allocation and capacity across designated trades.
• Monitor voyage utilization and booking development.
• Coordinate with Commercial, Operations, Customer Service, Pricing and Trade Management teams.
• Work with ship planners on space availability and restrictions.
• Manage overbooking, waitlists and cargo prioritization.
• Support rollovers, omissions, contingency measures and schedule adjustments.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve vessel profitability.
• Handle special cargo approvals such as OOG and Flexi Tank cargo.
• Challenge baselines and overbooking to ensure optimal utilization.

My client is a leading global container shipping and logistics company with an extensive international network and operations across major trade lanes worldwide. They are looking for a commercially driven professional to join their Trade Management team, focusing on vessel utilization, capacity optimization and profitability.

Role & Responsibilities

• Managing vessel allocation and capacity across designated trades.
• Monitoring and predicting voyage utilization and booking development.
• Coordinating with Commercial, Operations, Customer Service, Pricing and Trade Management teams.
• Working closely with ship planners on space availability and operational restrictions.
• Managing overbooking, waitlists and cargo prioritization based on commercial and operational requirements.
• Supporting decisions around rollovers, omissions, contingency measures and schedule adjustments.
• Identifying opportunities to reduce operational costs and improve vessel profitability/utilization.
• Handling special cargo approvals such as OOG and Flexi Tank cargo.
• Proactively challenging baselines, allocation levels and overbooking to ensure optimal vessel utilization.

Requirements

• Experience in container shipping operations, Trade Management or Commercial Steering.
• Strong understanding of vessel capacity, cargo allocation and voyage utilization.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to work.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of shipping applications such as FIS/Qlik is advantageous.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills.
• Commercially minded, proactive and comfortable taking ownership and making decisions.
• Ability to work effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
