Job summary

Phoon Huat Pte. Ltd. is seeking a skilled Buyer to join our headquarters on a full-time basis in Singapore.

You will source, negotiate, and procure products that meet quality standards, manage supplier relationships, and ensure timely deliveries to support our retail operations. Responsibilities include planning and procuring a portfolio of materials, evaluating suppliers, conducting market research, and collaborating with QA to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in procurement or sourcing.
• Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field.
• Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, customs processes, and import/export documentation.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Familiarity with procurement software (SAP, NetStock, Excel) is advantageous.

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Buyer to join our team at our Headquarter office on a full-time basis. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring products that meet our company's quality standards and business objectives. As a Buyer, you will play a crucial part in maintaining our competitive edge by identifying cost-effective suppliers, managing inventory levels, and ensuring the timely delivery of products to support our retail operations. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on our procurement strategy and contribute directly to our profitability and growth.

Key responsibilities

Plan and procure of a portfolio of materials/goods for assigned category.

• Manage and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers, monitoring their performance and addressing any issues that may arise.
• Evaluate supplier performance and conduct regular performance reviews to ensure compliance with contractual agreements.
• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing agreements to ensure favorable terms and conditions.

Conduct market research and analysis to stay updated on industry trends, new products, and market conditions and make informed purchasing decisions.

Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure assigned products meet regulatory and company standards, and work with suppliers to address and resolve any quality or compliance issues.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their requirements and provide procurement solutions that meet their needs.

Monitor inventory levels, place purchase orders, track deliveries, and ensure on-time delivery of goods and services.

• Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize procurement processes and reduce expenses.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier information.

What we’re looking for

• Minimum 2 years of experience in procurement or sourcing, preferably in food raw materials
• Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Agriculture, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, customs processes, and import/export documentation.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Familiarity in procurement software and tools (e.g. SAP, Netstock & Excel) is advantageous.
