Job summary

Singapore Medical Association is seeking an experienced business development leader to drive the Association's sales, sponsorships and partnerships, developing opportunities and revenue streams to support its work. You will develop and execute a commercial strategy, manage a robust pipeline, secure partners for events, courses and awards, and build long-term relationships with stakeholders.

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in business development, sales, sponsorship, partnership management, account management, fundraising, membership development or related fields.
  • Strong business development, sales, sponsorship and partnership management skills.

  • Proven ability to build, develop and maintain long‑term relationships with partners, sponsors, members and key stakeholders.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive and results‑oriented, with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and deliver outcomes in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Overall responsible for the functions and processes of business development, sales and partnerships, including identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities, strategic partnerships, sponsors and revenue streams.
  • Develop and execute the Association's business development and commercial strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational goals, long-term sustainability and revenue growth.
  • Develop and manage a robust sales and partnership pipeline, including prospect identification, lead generation, opportunity tracking and conversion to achieve annual revenue and sponsorship targets.
  • Achieve annual sales and revenue targets and secure partners and sponsors for SMA events and awards, including courses and seminars, annual dinner, golf and sports tournaments, membership events, and other initiatives.
  • Establish, maintain and strengthen relationships with existing and prospective partners, sponsors, corporate organisations and key stakeholders, identifying opportunities for collaboration, growth and new ventures.
  • Explore, develop and implement new business opportunities, sponsorship programmes and revenue-generating initiatives that enhance sustainability and growth.
  • Coordinate with partners on quotations, proposals, contracts, publicity materials, project management, billing and collection matters.
  • Conduct market research, assess industry trends, identify market gaps and evaluate opportunities to recommend new initiatives and services.
  • Develop and improve website advertisement banners, SMA Jobs portal and other digital platforms, identifying opportunities for revenue generation.
  • Develop strategies to increase sponsorship revenue, partnership engagement and membership benefits.
  • Represent the Association at networking events, industry meetings and conferences to promote the Association and establish new business opportunities.
  • Prepare and monitor sales forecasts, revenue reports and partnership performance, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Identify, evaluate and pursue new revenue streams and business models that contribute to long-term sustainability.

Job description

Core Responsibilities

1. To be overall responsible for the functions and processes of business development, sales and partnerships of the Association, including identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities, strategic partnerships, sponsors and revenue streams to support the work of the Association.

2. Develop and execute the Association's business development and commercial strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational goals, long-term sustainability and revenue growth.

3. Develop and manage a robust sales and partnership pipeline, including prospect identification, lead generation, opportunity tracking and conversion to achieve annual revenue and sponsorship targets.

4. To achieve the annual sales and revenue targets set and to secure partners and sponsors for SMA events and awards, including courses and seminars, annual dinner, golf and sports tournaments, membership events, and other Association initiatives.

5. To establish, maintain and strengthen relationships with existing and prospective partners, sponsors, corporate organisations and key stakeholders, and to identify opportunities for collaboration, growth and new business ventures that support the objectives of the Association.

6. To explore, develop and implement new business opportunities, strategic partnerships, sponsorship programmes and revenue-generating initiatives that enhance the sustainability and growth of the Association.

7. To manage and coordinate with partners and sponsors on quotations, proposals, contracts, publicity materials, project management, billing and collection matters.

8. To conduct market research, assess industry trends, identify market gaps and evaluate emerging opportunities to recommend new initiatives, services and areas for growth.

9. To manage, maintain and improve the website advertisement banners, SMA Jobs portal and other digital or commercial platforms, and to identify and develop additional opportunities for revenue generation and commercial growth.

10. To develop and implement strategies to increase sponsorship revenue, partnership engagement, membership benefits and overall value delivered to stakeholders.

11. To represent the Association at networking events, industry meetings, conferences and other engagements to promote the Association, build strategic relationships and establish new business opportunities.

12. To prepare and monitor sales forecasts, revenue reports and partnership performance, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

13. To identify, evaluate and pursue new revenue streams, business models and commercial opportunities that contribute to the long-term sustainability and growth of the Association while enhancing membership benefits.

14. Any other responsibilities as required by the Chief Administrator.

The ideal candidate should possess:
  • Degree in Business, Marketing, Healthcare Management or a related discipline.

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in business development, sales, sponsorship, partnership management, account management, fundraising, membership development or related fields.

  • Experience within the healthcare, medical association, pharmaceutical, medical device or healthcare services industry will be highly advantageous.

  • Strong business development, sales, sponsorship and partnership management skills, with the ability to identify opportunities and drive revenue growth.

  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Proven ability to build, develop and maintain long‑term relationships with partners, sponsors, members and key stakeholders.

  • Self‑motivated, proactive and results‑oriented, with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.

  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and deliver outcomes in a dynamic environment.
