Job summary

Obayashi Singapore Private Limited is seeking a Building Engineer to assist the Construction Manager in overseeing day-to-day site works in Singapore. The role involves supervising and coordinating subcontractors, safety and quality control, and monitoring progress to prevent delays.

The candidate will prepare monthly and weekly progress reports, attend site meetings, conduct inspections for compliance, and ensure a safe working environment in alignment with local regulations.

Qualifications

• Must have degree in civil engineering, construction management or architecture.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate day-to-day site works, including subs and safety/quality control.
• Monitor daily progress on site and identify delays or issues, implementing actions.
• Coordinate, supervise and monitor progress, manpower, materials and ordering to keep the project on track.
• Prepare monthly progress reports for in-house, owner, and consultant submissions.
• Produce weekly site progress reports and submissions.
• Attend meetings and conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with authority requirements.
• Maintain a safe, clean on-site environment and comply with regulations.
• Handle ad-hoc duties as assigned by Construction/Project Management.

Job description

(A) Job Summary:

Assists the Construction Manager in overseeing day-to-day site works.

(B) Essential Job Functions:

The Building Engineer is responsible, but not limited to,the following:

• Supervise & coordinate day-to-day site works, including sub-contract works, safety and quality control.
• Monitor the daily progress of work-on-site, identifying potential delays or issues and implementing necessary
• Coordination, supervision & monitoring of the progress of the project works on site, manpower mobilization, materials planning & ordering and adjustments to keep the project on track.
• Oversee the preparation of monthly progress reports for in-house, owner, and consultant submissions, highlighting key achievements and milestones.
• Produce weekly site progress reports and necessary submissions
• Attend meetings and conduct site inspections on work progress to ensure quality control by authority requirements.
• Maintain safe and clean working environment and ensure compliances according to standard rules and regulations
• Any ad-hoc duties as per assigned by Construction Manager/ Project Manager/ Project Director.

(C) Minimum Qualifications/ Job Experience:

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture
• Knowledge of building and structural details, working drawings and local construction practices.
• Knowledge of local regulations and engineering standards.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work independently and as a team.
• Good time management skills with exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks/ projects at one time.
• Familiar with tender and bidding processes.
