Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in bioinformatics, computational biology or related field.
• Strong programming skills in Python and R.
• Experience in bioinformatics, genomics or metagenomics.
• Familiarity with sequence analysis, genome annotation and comparative genomics.
• Experience developing bioinformatics pipelines and Linux/Unix environments.
• Knowledge of machine learning or data science is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, communication and independent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary research environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and automate bioinformatics pipelines for analysis of genomic datasets.
• Identify and analyse novel insertion sequences and transposable elements.
• Perform sequence analysis, annotation and functional analysis to identify candidate genetic elements.
• Develop ML approaches to predict and optimise genetic elements for large DNA insertion.
• Apply AI and explainable ML to extract insights from genomic datasets and foundation models.
• Develop reproducible and scalable workflows and maintain code and results.
• Analyse and integrate large-scale genomic datasets to generate hypotheses for validation.
• Collaborate with experimental biologists and computational researchers to support validation.
• Assist in preparation of research reports, presentations and manuscripts.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the PI.
