Job summary

APAR TECHNOLOGIES PTE. LTD. is seeking an experienced Java/J2EE professional with a strong background in Big Data.

The role involves designing and building scalable solutions, contributing to solution architecture, and collaborating with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment. You will ensure quality through TDD/BDD practices and participate in production support and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or technical degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology or related discipline preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in Java/J2EE development with strong design and implementation track record.
• Hands-on experience with Big Data technologies is preferred.
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and end-to-end IT project delivery.
• Experience in corporate banking or cash management is advantageous.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse and provide feedback on functional specifications and business requirements.
• Design and develop high-quality solutions in accordance with defined technical standards.
• Provide detailed development estimates and contribute to solution planning.
• Develop and test applications using TDD and BDD approaches.
• Perform non-functional testing, code reviews and design reviews.
• Prepare technical documentation for solution design and implementation.
• Support functional testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Provide Level 3 production support, investigate application issues and implement appropriate resolutions.
• Contribute to solution design, performance tuning and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in Java/J2EE development .
• Hands-on experience in Big Data technologies is preferred.
• Bachelor's or Technical Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology or a related discipline is preferred.
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies .
• Proven experience in end-to-end design and implementation of complex IT systems.
• Good understanding of software development processes and established development practices.
• Experience in corporate banking and/or cash management is advantageous.

Technical Skills

• Candidates should have experience with several of the following:
• Java/J2EE , preferably Java 8 or above, including parallelism and concurrency.
• Apache Spark, Flink or Storm for processing and transforming large datasets.
• HBase and Elasticsearch for Big Data storage and CRUD operations.
• IBM MQ and Kafka for messaging and event processing.
• AWS, GCP or other cloud platforms .
• Spring, Spring REST, Web Services, gRPC and Microservices for API and application development.
• Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, Git and GitLab for build and release management.
• JUnit and Cucumber for automated testing and BDD.
• Jira and SonarQube for project and code quality management.
• UML and GitHub Copilot or similar development productivity tools.
• Kibana, Spark UI and ELK for application monitoring, debugging and root-cause analysis.
• Experience with DevOps, release management and production support is strongly preferred.
